Series tied up 1-1 (OU won Friday 4-3 and Pepperdine won 10-0 yesterday)
Gametime: 11am PT
Live game feed on website I posted in Game 1 thread and you can listen on http://www.sportstalk1400.com/kref2/index.php

Game 3 starter for OU today is Steven Okert (JC transfer) against Alex Najera (1-4, 4.79 ERA in 2011) for Pepperdine.

Like Jonathan Gray, not much info on Steven Okert. Listed as a JC (Junior) and will be making his Sooner debut. Last year Okert had a 9-1 record, 1.79 ERA, and recorded 77 SO.

If anyone else has any more information on game 3 today (starting lineups, etc.) feel free to share. This is my first year as a OU student and I live in South Carolina, so I am still learning about the team. Hopefully OU will play better today. BOOMER SOONER!

I'm really worried about the lack of strikes thrown by our starting rotation this series. Hopefully this isn't an issue all season.

Sooner lose 7-6 thanks to time rule. Our pitching is really struggling right now. I hope this is not an indication of how it will be this year. Oh btw Sunny got tossed in the 8th.

And pitching was said to be the strength of this team.

Young, inexperienced team. That said, Overton is Overton. Why we would expect more, I'm not sure. The other guys are highly touted/drafted guys. Is it all potential? We'll find out.

The lineup's going to have to find ways to score runs. It will be an interesting season to watch for sure.

Refresh my memory. Wasn't it just a couple of years ago that we got off to a rough start but ended up in the College World Series or do I have my years confused?

Since SG started as the head coach in 2005, OU has usually started the season on a winning note. The exception is 2007, where the team lost 3 of the first five. The last four times the Sooners made it to the CWS ('92, '94, '95, '10) each of those teams started 5-0 and had mostly a 2 to 1 win ratio after the first 22 games. Scoring runs, showing toughness to come from behind, and staying hot at the end of the season has shown to earn a ticket to Omaha.
