Buzz: OU was a disappointment of sorts this past season, and as a result, there hasn’t been much preseason buzz about the Sooners. But as soon as QB Landry Jones announced he was coming back for his senior season, OU took on the look of a preseason top-five team. There are relatively few holes for Bob Stoops and his staff, which includes brother Mike as the new defensive coordinator, to fill. The most pressing issue is improving the rushing attack. True freshman RB Trey Metoyer, who already has enrolled, will be in the spotlight this spring. OU also needs to find a go-to receiver to replace Ryan Broyles. Defensively, the key is finding someone to replace E Frank Alexander as a consistent pass rusher.

Or the reporter knows almost nothing about the team/incoming class.

I'm going to have to agree with the above post after reading these sentences together. Doesn't sound like a typo.

If it was a typo wouldn't he catch the mistake when he proof read it ? They still proof read don't they.

Notice he mentions "RB Trey Metoyer" right after the sentence about the rushing attack being a pressing issue. And then in the next sentence he moves on to WR's and how we also need to find someone to replace Broyles. And the sentence starts out "OU also...", as if he is moving on to another idea/point. If it was a typo he certainly worded that strangley and is kind of a bad writer. The sentence "OU also needs to find a go-to receiver to replace Ryan Broyles" obviously needs to go right before mentioning Metoyer for it to make sense. Just read the paragraph. It reads "Here's a point, but here's a point. Here's another point, but here's the counter point to that. Etc." The sentence about Metoyer is obviously a response to the "issue" of the running attack, just like OU "taking on the buzz of a top 5 team" was a response to Landry coming back (and the entire point itself being a response to there not being much buzz about OU early on), and how the list of 3 holes to fill come as a response to how there aren't very many holes to fill. Just look at the paragraph structure folks. Why would he break out of this simple, standard structure to make it look like Metoyer is a RB? (And that's how it would have read even had he not put "RB")

My verdict is that he thought while writing that that Metoyer is in fact a RB. Who is this guy anyways? He's obviously new to OU football.

Edit: Unless he's an insider and he's breaking the news of Metoyer being moved to RB in a kind of coy and arrogant "wait you didn't know that?" kind of way. Probably not.

It's a typo. He's a deep snapper.

I admire anyone that puts that much effort into exposing a non-typo and then edits his post to cover his own a$$ on a possible conspiracy theory. :single_eye:

Those long and lanky types are easy to grab hold of.

We need a go-to possession receiver like Browles.

I can't see Metoyer moving positions.
