Big 12 Announces 2012 Football Schedule
Sooners host Kansas State, Kansas, Baylor and Oklahoma State in Norman.

NORMAN, Okla. — The Big 12 Conference released its 2012 football schedule as approved by the league’s Directors of Athletics on Tuesday. The 2012 slate includes Big 12 newcomers TCU and West Virginia, and features a 10-team, nine-game, round-robin schedule. Dates are subject to change as adjustments are expected to accommodate television partners’ requests. Television selections for the first three weeks of the season and special dates are due to the Conference July 1.

Oklahoma opens Big 12 play at home on Sept. 22 against Kansas State, a team its won its last five games against, before its first Big 12 road game on Oct. 6 at Texas Tech. The 107th meeting between Oklahoma and Texas will be held in Dallas on Oct. 13 as the Sooners look for their third straight win in the series. The OU-Texas game is followed by a home game against Kansas, a team OU has won seven straight against.

November opens with a road trip to Ames, Iowa on Nov. 3 where Oklahoma is 33-2-1 vs. Iowa State. Baylor comes to Norman, where OU holds a 10-0 record as part of a 20-1 series lead, on Nov. 10 followed by OU’s first ever trip to Morgantown, W. Va., to take on conference newcomer West Virginia, a team that Oklahoma is 2-2 against all-time.

Bedlam returns to Norman for the first time since 2009 as Oklahoma enters the 2012 season with a 82-17-7 series edge over its in-state rival. The Sooners close out their regular season on Dec. 1 in Fort Worth, Texas, at conference newcomer TCU. Oklahoma is 7-4 all-time against the Horned Frogs including a 4-0 mark in Forth Worth. The 2012 game marks OU’s first trip to TCU since a 1998 10-9 Oklahoma victory.

The non-conference portion of Oklahoma’s schedule will be released at a later date.

The Oklahoma Conference schedule is as follows:
Sept. 22 – Kansas State - Oklahoma leads 71-17-4; Last Meeting - OU 58, KSU 17 (Oct. 29, 2011)

Just a quick question. If traveling to WV for the game. Where do you fly into?

Well, I'm glad the powers-that-be didn't simply plug TCU and WV into the already existing Mizzou/A&M slate. I think that would have caused OU to play both newcomers on the road in September. Moot point now...

But wow did they have a fun run while it lasted... by Baylor standards. We would probably not give a crap about a bowl winning season, nor rush the field for beating TCU or... um... ourselves... but meh. I'll let em enjoy it because I know it won't last.

Same goes for the Stunned Aggys of Stillwater. Know how they're losing Weeden and Blackmon? They're reportedly also losing another top receiver. (http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsextra/OSU/article.aspx?subjectid=93&articleid=20120214_93_B3_CUTLIN999595)

Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy still has not addressed the situation publicly, but a source confirms that Michael Harrison - considered to have been the most talented of the Cowboys' returning outside receivers - has been suspended for the entire 2012 season.

Whoops.

If Baylor and OSU thought 2011 was something for them to build off of, rude awakening in t-minus 7 months and counting.

Any chance the TCU game on 12-01 will be a Jerry World??

I actually don't think Baylor's going to fall off as hard as people think. I was pretty impressed with Florence (RG3's backup) the times I've seen him play and the Briles system doesn't exactly need gamebreaking receivers on the level of Kendall Wright. They'll just have to figure out how to play defense this year.

The Pokes, on the other hand, are about to have a rude awakening.

For OU they mean bowl wins. For others...

Based on what NP said about that Jerryworld experience, it might not be ideal for OU nor TCU fans. They'll sell to Jerryworld season ticket holders first, then to the two schools' donor bases. Might be better of freezing in the Cotton Bowl than subjecting big money Sooners to watching on a glorified big screen TV munching on $60 pizzas while sipping $20 beers.

Let me be perfectly fair to the Baptist Bear Bears: It's not just about losing RG3, nor is it about losing any other talent. It's about teams that will suddenly take poor ol' loser downtrodden Bay-lor seriously, and in some cases, seeking vengeance. Last year's effort (and in the case of the OU game, last year's lucky bounce passes) will not be enough to win the same games that Baylor won last year, even if you retained 100 percent of your team, coaches, and everything else stayed the same. Intangibles will work against the B-squad.

TCU's stadium renovations are complete this year. No chance they will move a game to Jerry World.

Nvm, I guess 9/1 is still open for ooc.

WVU opens conference play against Baylor, and TCU opens against KU. I'm think both teams get their first Big XII win in their first games.

Schedule sure ought to temper some of the expectations around here. Toughest OU sched I've seen in many a year. The November stretch rivals the Red October stretch barring an unexpected collapse by TCU and WVU. Really, it starts with Notre Dame Oct 27. With travel to Ames in November, and Rhodes having his team playing some pretty good ball, Baylor at home may be the "easiest" of those games.

In a word: Rough.

We get through this one with just 1 loss, unless there are two undefeateds, we better be in the BCS Championship game. But I'm thinking we could actually have a better, more consistent team than last year and still finish 9-3 again.

Yep, this is going to be a tough schedule. IF we get through with only one loss, and short of there being two undefeated teams out there, we should be in position for a title run.

I was a little worried about the Iowa State game too, until I realized it comes after a bye week. I don't think Stoops has ever lost after a bye.

I haven't traveled to any away games, I'm only a 6 hour drive or so from Morgantown. When you guys buy tickets to away games, how do you go about finding the Sooners area (if there is such a thing) so you can cheer and mingle with civilized folk?

Not usually the best seats, but fun to sit with the fellow Sooners.

When we went to Seattle (UW) a few years back, they camped us and many at the very top of the stadium, and the Husky fans were all like "Hehe, ja, nobody usually sits up there." However, the UW security people let us come down to the side of the field by the closer Sooner fan allotment by the end of the game. We were up 30 or 40 by that point, heh. That was the year they fired Willingham and the team went 0-for the season.

Nope. No break. The week before is the home game against Notre Dame (OOC so not included on the B12 sched.) In other words, ISU sets up as a really nasty trap game in the same way it did for oSu last year (who was coming off the home game thriller against K-State.)
