From ESPN:

UPDATE: If Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz decides not to hire from within the Hawkeyes' staff, two candidates should immediately rise to the top of the team's list.

"Two names Iowa football fans: Brian Ferentz and Jay Norvell," Troy Banning of the Webster City Daily Freeman-Journal tweeted. "Don't know where, but (I) think they'll be on staff next year. Norvell OC."

Brian Ferentz is the logical choice on this Super Bowl Sunday. The New England Patriots' tight ends coach is Kirk Ferentz's son. He started three seasons (2002-05) at center for the Hawkeyes. He could be named coordinator this week after Super Bowl festivities.

Jay Norvell is the co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach at Oklahoma. Norvell has experience in the state having coached with Iowa State from 1995-97. He was also a candidate to become Wisconsin's new coordinator before deciding to stay at Oklahoma.

If Norvell left it would leve an opening for Mangino to return. However that would require shuffling coaches around as Mark is an O-line and O coordinator and Norvell coaches WRs.Maybe move Kittle to Wr's and make Mark TEs and OT coach?

Why in the world would we want Mangino back?

He's an excellent coach and game-planner, but Oklahoma would need to sign 10 offensive linemen in each recruiting class, so they would at least have 5 of them still around 3 or 4 years later.

Hopefully Norvell stays. We need him for a run at #8.

Iowa is not a collateral move.

He should hire Chuck Long. Doesn't he know that Chuck Long was a Heisman runner-up at Iowa?

Iowa and Clemson, two programs that never deliver. We sent BV to one of em, I guess it's only fair we send Norvell to the other.

I can't see JN leaving for anything short of a HC job. Now, if Ferentz says the right things, he may consider that offer. I hope not though, JN has been huge for OU in recruiting.
