Ben Habern had neck surgery today (not sure what the procedure was). Apparently it was planned and shouldn't affect next season. Gabe Ikard will fill in until Habern is able to return.

According to Carey Murdock at SoonerScoop ($), OU center Ben Habern recently had neck surgery caused from an injury that dated all the way back to his high school days. Evidently Murdock had been given the story, but sat on it out of respect to his source who didn't want the news to get out there until Oklahoma and Habern had been assured of the surgery's success. This has apparently taken place, which for OU but especially for Habern (and his family)is extremely good news.

Evidently, Habern will be in a neck brace for the next 4-6 weeks and is almost guaranteed to be held out of spring practices. But this is not expected to be career threatening and the coaches are fully anticipating him being ready to go this summer.

Good for him that he'll be healthy! Any news on Ripkowski? Kid was on the sidelines at the bowl game looking like storm trooper with all that gear on for his back. I hope his outlook is good with something that looked that bad.

Haven't seen anything on him, but Stoops is supposed to address that tomorrow in his NSD interview.
