View Full Version : More Landon Collins Mama Drama

Seems like Bama doesn't have any problem securing jobs for kids...

So many of us saw the whole picking Alabama over LSU and how that made mom unhappy on national TV. And after that mom made some comments about Bama and Saban stereotyping him in his recruitment.

Well now she is coming out with more doozies. She is accusing him of planning on redshirting or greyshirting him and making him a nickelback while LSU promised to play the top safety recruit as a safety his frosh year. That stuff is interesting as either way it seems the coaches are being honest with their plans for the kids.

But the good stuff is how Bama is allegedly giving Collins girlfriend a job on campus in Nick Sabans office. If I am the recruit, I don't know if I'd want my girl being a secretary in that snake pit.

But best of all is how this isn't illegal. In NCAA basketball it would be illegal recruitment since they recently changed the bylaws. In NCAA football the bylaws allow for it. Gotta wonder when the NCAA will change this rule. It'd be nice if they were more proactive with these things instead of always being reactive. Mostly they just wait for very public messes to blow over and years later they might change rules or hit teams with sanctions.

Saban is definitely a winner. Wouldn't exactly call him ethical though.

Saban wins NCs against teams with injured starting QBs or getting rematches in the same season national title games. He's an excellent regular season coach, but nothing more than a lucky bastard in NC game matchups. :) I am still waiting to see him win his first without the previous scenarios in place.

2004 Sugar Bowl?

Yeah, but everybody knows that Alabama is only interested in games played for a national championship.

I don't know that I'd really take anything that came from his mother's mouth at this stage as anything other than sour grapes. She knew before the UA game that her son was committing to Alabama and she still acted like that on live television. Then she tries to make the excuse that she felt like that because she thought Saban disrespected her. Even if she felt like that, you aren't there to voice your displeasure at Nick Saban, you're there to share in a proud moment for your son.

Until Saban or Urban Meyer get caught, calling them unethical or cheaters really dosnt matter.

Yep. After reading the recent ESPN article about her (and the situation), she sounds a little off her rocker to begin with. I'm actually impressed that the kid made his decision and stuck with it. I think she's playing her moment in the sun for as long as she can.

+1 Xing. Well said. This is just the latest effort by the Saban-Haters to throw something at the wall, praying that it will stick--and Herr, fittingly a whorn fan, evidently fell for it.

While I doubt the validity of the story, even if it's true this is NOT against NCAA rules. Universities CAN employ students and offer them jobs. And working in the athletic dept for $7.00/hr would sure beat working in the library. Even LSU themselves did something similar with Russell Shepard's girl friend, if I recall correctly(Perhaps our friend LSU Deek can clarify that).

I feel like I'm hearing all the same crap and whining all over again that we heard from the whorn fans two years ago after the BCS game. The GOOD LSU fans that I know realize they got their a** kicked in their own backyard, are taking it like a real man would, and are moving on to focus on next season. The quicker that the rest of them like Landon's mom, who in my opinion has been totally classless through this whole thing and really has demonstrated that she has zero credibility, come to terms with that fact the better off they AND their program will be.

BTW, I now see one big reason why Landon lives with his dad, and NOT his mom.

Satanball, have you guys figured out how to hammer Barner yet for the Cam Scam or the casino lottery chips, or the HBO report, or anything else?

Have you even killed their trees yet?

 Dammit Bammers, we're depending on you to control your little orange brother! I know we Sooners haven't done the best of jobs of this lately with our orange in-state control (see my avatar for OU continually losing to OSU, argh), but c'mon guys, you just won the national championship! Surely you could enjoy it a little bit more by sinking your in-state rival at the same time :D

We are working on it. We helped run off both their coordinators, flipped their no. 1 recruit TJ Yeldon at the last minute three wks ago, AND their top RB Michael Dyer has left the team, ostensibly to follow Gus Malzahn to Arkansas STate. I'd say that's a lot of progress in returning little brother back to irrelevance!

OK. We promise to get to work immediately on returning OSU to mediocrity, or at least 7-6 sh!t-tier bowl seasons.

Please do...I suffered through 10 yrs back in the 70-80's living in a small northeastern Oklahoma town that was dominated by OSU fans, and still to this day think they are one of the most obnoxious fanbases that I've EVER been around, and that's including our aggie school little brother down on the plains.

Saban has won 3 national titles in less than a decade. That is, deservedly, what the record books reflect, not whether some opponent had to play a second teamer against him. He will likely win more titles before he is done. He may not be a good man, but he is one of the great coaches in NCAA history.

I agree Saban had some title game luck with QB injuries, but there was nothing tainted about this season's matchup. LSU was healthy and would have beaten any other team. So what if it was a rematch - it was a rematch for LSU too. Bama definitely was lucky to be there given the improbable OSU/ISU game, but something like that happens almost every year.

You lived in a town dominated by OSU fans in the 70-80's? Man, I didn't really know OSU had fans until OU had its crappy 90s run.

The way LSU played in the title game, I think little brother would have creamed them. Even the tiger players wonder what happened.

None of my children ever entertained the idea of going to any other college but OU. Two out of 3 were recruited athletes. That being said, she needs keep her family school decision drama behind closed doors, and realize that this is his life and his decision to make.

If either of my boys were to decide to go to Texas over OU (I can only hope they have those kinds of options), I would try to convince them to go to OU, but in the event they still wanted to go to Texas, I'd become the biggest whorn fan in the country for four years.

You don't need to cheer their redshirt year or the years they play special teams, or the years Mack third strings them in favor of the five-star kid he promised playing time to.

See? Like that four turns into zero :P

I suppose that's true. And if they go to Bama or LSU, I won't have to cheer their greyshirt year(s) either.
