No, this isn't the Jimmy Johnson commercial.
In Tuesday's Houston Chronicle, a story indicated Mack's contract has been extended to 2020. This is good news for Sooner Fans. Here's my rendition of the interview with DeLoss Dodds.
On January 26th, University of Texas AD DeLoss Dodds announced Mack Brown's contract had been extended to 2020, with interim raises. When asked about how this squared with the last two years record of 13-12, and last season's 55-17 beatdown by arch rival Oklahoma, Dodds responded "... none of that matters. Texas is the richest CFB program in America, and we can do whatever we want.. We sell more hats, caps, and flannel logo pajama bottoms than any other school. Our 2009 National Champions gear is worn by citizens all over the world--from Madagascar to Costa Rica. With the Longhorn network, our water polo matches will be viewed nationwide. Mack Brown is known as the best cheerleader-coach there is. He's the best sideline clapper & hugger in college football today. He's great with the media. He can always find a positive, even in a devastating loss. Finally, he's a great recruiter. Mack and his staff have attracted more Top 10 Recruiting Classes the past 10 years in CFB Div 1. Not only have they done that, they've turned those same top recruited classes into mediocre performers on the field. This is a good thing, because it promotes parity and closes the gap between the haves and have nots in CFB Div 1. Mack is our man and we'll stick with him long as he wants to stay. Just ask Will Muschump. "
