ALABAMA or MIAMI?


Alabama from 1961-1979 is similar to Miami from 1983-2001.


Of course, Miami had the thuggish way of life (not bad) and had a new attitude that was born in the college game.


Alabama in that time period (19 seasons):
- 1961 National Champions
- 1964 National Champions
- 1965 Co-National Champions
- 1966 Undefeated Season (#3 in polls)
- 1973 Co-National Champions
- 1974 Undefeated Regular Season
- 1978 Co-National Champions
- 1979 National Champions


Miami in their time period (19 seasons):
- 1983 National Champions
- 1985 played for national title; played for title
- 1986 Undefeated Regular Season; played for title
- 1987 National Champions
- 1989 National Champions
- 1991 Co-National Champions
- 1992 Undefeated Regular Season; played for title
- 2000 Played for a shot at split title had FSU won NC
- 2001 National Champions
- 2002 Undefeated Regular Season; played for title


Take your pick on the better 19 season stretch!


Also note; both Bama and Miami had bad seasons in those time frames mixed in with all the great seasons.


I didn't bother with the wins and losses totals.

Alabama won 6 national titles (only deserved 3); Miami won 5 national titles and deserved all 5 even though they are criminals.

Alabama's most dominant stretch was that period as was Miami's.


Oklahoma's 55-75 stretch is not as good since the entire 60s were not great with the exception of 1967.

BTW, I think a more consistent timeline would be to use the 17 year stretch. That is the standard on judging stretches.
