I'd be OK with this... wait, where's Metlife Stadium?

MetLife Stadium is a stadium in the New York Metropolitan Area, part of the MetLife Sports Complex, in East Rutherford, New Jersey. It is the home of the New York Giants and New York Jets of the National Football League and is adjacent to the site of the former Giants Stadium, which was home to the Giants from 1976 until December 2009 and the Jets from 1984 until January 2010. Like its predecessor, the new stadium is the only NFL stadium shared by two teams. However, unlike Giants Stadium, in which the Jets were tenants of the NJSEA, the new stadium is a 50/50 partnership between both teams.
Ahhh... ok...???

I like this idea, Rutgers could be a conference game on a couple years, might as well get acquainted...

Well, this is one way to fight the 'small media market' bugaboo. Maybe our brain trust in Norman can pitch OU as a national team. I mean we're already the anti-Texas. And that's getting awful close to being the defenders of Mom, apple pie, children, puppies and old people.

So I'm guessing that the discussion about the game @UCF are basically done. I'm really surprised a game in NYC is even on the table if we're going to Morgantown this year, but desperate times call for desperate measures and I bet the powers that be are gonna do what they can to keep our schedule as tough as usual even with all the late scrambling.

We have begun to recruit the NJ/NY region more lately. A game in NY/NJ would go a long way in adding to that effort.

This is why I really like Castiglione so much. In the BCS era, when scheduling the weakest possible OOC opponents is the norm, Castiglione and Stoops aren't afraid to play anyone, anywhere.

I hope this happens.

Seems like Don Bosco Prep has produced some good talent as of late, I know it's in New Jersey, but I don't where exactly. Seems like (given the population of the area) that there would be more football factories in that area.

Bosco is always solid, as is Bergen Catholic. The deal is, they cherry pick the kids like Jenks and Union and they can do it as private schools...

I suspect we are looking at a NYC for other reasons not mentioned...Besides the recruiting angle, which I think is minimal, I figure we wouldn't be doing it unless we had to schedule an away game AND we were guaranteed a nice portion of the cut, whereas we wouldn't get anything playing in Piscataway.

Of course it's money. That's what drives CFB. IF there wasn't a financial incentive to do it, it wouldn't even be considered. My guess is either a really hearty split on the one game, or a home-and-home agreement.

I disagree about the recruiting angle being "minimal". Seems that other than money, recruiting has played a big role in most things going on in CFB these days, whether it be which conference you are in or what you can tell a recruit, recruiting well=playing well=paying well.

Bucs wanted an organized coach who can provide a plan...Great guy for it..

The last time a coach left a team right before signing day, it was Butch Davis to Cleveland..And Schiano had just taken the Rutgers job I believe

Meh on NYC. I'd rather play it at the Rutger's stadium. I've played golf on their course, and been by their stadium many times. Pretty cool hole in the ground. Besides, there's some killer little pizza and sammich joints in the New Brunswick/Kilmer area.

Sucks for them as this news could not have come at a worse time, less than a week before signing day. They were set with what was a pretty decent recruiting class and while it is late in the process, many of those kids are reevaluating their options.

For Schiano, either he wanted to go to the NFL all along or he waited too long to parlay his rising star status. He was pursued by Miami and Michigan after that one great season (2006, Rutgers went 11-2 and beat sa*et in a bowl game). I said then he should have jumped instead of standing pat. He is still a commodity and maybe he'll succeed coaching the pros or return to coaching college after a season (Lou Holtz did that when he took the job at Arkie).

Still, it just leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouth when a guy claims to be loyal to a place and then unexpectedly leaves at an inopportune time. The only saving grace is that he didn't pull a Lane Kiffin on them, going to another school and take recruits with him.
