First time I've seen a team deemed preseason #1 because they *don't* return their QB :D

Okie State barely stayed in the top 25! I guess they're not a team on the rise this year.

Okie Lite will take their rightful place again in oblivion.

I definitely agree with LSU being preseason no. 1--Jefferson and Lee are both gone but they return virtually everyone else. They are loaded....With the receivers they are losing, Im not sure I would have Arky quite so high, but then again their schedule flips in their favor(LSU and Bama both at home in 2012) and Wilson is the best returning qb in the SEC.

CNN doesn't think much of the Big 12.

Two teams in the top 10 and three in the top 15. If everyone didn't expect OSU to fumble their dinner, there would likely be four in the top 15. Could potentially be four if you count WVU.

Also, it's supremely strange to have to look for TCU and WVU when counting Big XII teams.

Must be too many conservatives for DNN's liking in Stillwater these days.

I love when people suggest that there be no preseason college football polls or no polls till XXX date in the middle of the season.

What, exactly, stops the Associated Press, Sports Illustrated, ESPN, or anyone else from creating a college football poll whenever they feel like it? Hell, let's create one for the 2013-2014 season!

1: Oklahoma
2: Washington State
3: West Virginia with Brent Venables as defensive coordinator
4: Kansas State, since Bill Snyder won't be retired yet
5: Texas, because they forced Mack Brown out.
6-25: The entire SEC, which has expanded to 20 teams.

I'll call it now. OSU finishes 2nd in the Big 12 and ranked around #12 next year.

That's not a crazy prediction at all. If you assume that OU bounces back to win the conference, who else is up there to finish second if you don't assume TCU or WVU could come in and compete right away. A&M will be down, Texas will improve, but without an upgrade at QB, it looks like more of the same from them. KSU had a great year this year, but may or may not be able to sustain. Baylor will almost certainly fall off somewhat from an amazing season. Tech shouldn't do much.

OSU to compete with KSU, Texas, and Baylor for 2-4 in the conference makes perfect sense to me.

60% of the league is in the Top 25.

Or... you know... however many teams we end up with in our defunct little conference :stunned:

TCU and WVU should be home games for OSU next year, so I don't know what to think about them. The orange in me says 2-0. Texas, OU, and KSU will be the preseason top 3 in no particular order. KSU and OU are on the road and I think we split that, haven't decided which we win or lose. Texas is at home, however they worry me the most in the Big 12. They're my preseason prediction to win the Big 12.

What Texas will win the Big 12 in (related only to football):

1- Recruiting. 5-stars! 5-stars! 5-stars! (which were probably 2-stars till Texas started recruiting them)

2- Coaching salary. Fire Mack? Force Mack to resign? NO! Give Mack a raise and/or extension! Yay!

3- Games you can't watch on television. Dad, what channel is the "Longhorn Network?" "Oxygen, son. Look for the Oxygen channel."

4- Drops in the polls. A team with five losses can still be in the top 25, right? RIGHT?!?!

5- Attendance. 200k eyes (unless Texans evolve into only having one eye) are watching whorn lose at Sooner Alum Who Defected Memorial Stadium.

Not that it means anything AT ALL, but Mel Kiper does have his own Top 5 for next years pre-season polls.

Lets see if I can remember this correctly:

1) LSU
2) USC
3) BAMA
4) OU
5) GEORGIA

They have a Very good defense returning, by far the best in the Big 12. They have Malcolm Brown and Johnathon Gray at RB and OL that can finally block. If Ash develops like I think he will over this offseason, then they will be a really good team next year.

I'd be willing to bet everything I own that A&M is pretty much a non-factor in the Big 12 race next season.
