View Full Version : If You Were a Top Football Recruit, Where Would You Visit?

Yeah, dream on, Lex, but let's just fantasize for a minute. . . .

OU - of course.
OSU - I have some family ties there and this would be a courtesy visit.
Michigan - I love its academic strength, the old-fashioned Gothic style campus, the city of Ann Arbor, Big Ten traditions, smart kids, attractive coffee house type coeds.
Stanford - the academics go without saying, as well as being in the Bay area.
Texas - ok, I hate that program, but the school and city are great.

As many places as the NCAA would permit. I'd play all the programs like a fiddle just to get as much free vacation time out of it as possible.

Methinks that's why Mario Edwards soured on OU suddenly --- because we knew he was just playing us for free recruiting trips and had no intention of coming to Norman.

Speaking of top recruits, Michael Dyer left Auburn today. Rumor I'm hearing is he's transferring to Arkansas State to follow Mahlzahn.

If I had a chance to play anything for the Sooners I wouldn't have even looked at pictures of other campuses. Sorry for not playing along but OU was it for me no matter what.

On a side note, the one year I spent in Norman they were trying to start up a club rugby team. I was this close to going out but was a newlywed and she wasn't havin' any of that.

I don't think Hawaii has endless recruiting budget to blow on sightseeing "recruits," so that makes sense. I remember Colt Brennan complaining a few years ago that they didn't even have money for soap in the showers at that school. Ewwww

Florida - only SEC school I would even consider
Florida State - A lot of talent if you know what I mean
Miami - hate them but they know how to schmooze a recruit
Oregon - Have you seen their cheerleaders?
ASU - Got some honeys

Baghdad U. - they have a lot of D-1 talent. Member that thread? You member...

It depends on what I would be doing after college football. If NFL was a option, OU, ALABAMA, ND, etc. If making a living was my option, STANFORD, RICE, HARVARD, etc.

I would sign at OU as soon as they offered. Maybe that's not smart, but my love for OU football trumps sandy beaches, hot women, and anything else other schools have to offer. Sooner born, Sooner bred, and when I die I'll be Sooner dead. I was a college baseball player, but not good enough to go to OU or I would have in a heart beat.

The whole recruiting business has a smell to it. I have a co-worker whose son, Jordan, played MLB for a large state high school in Kentucky and their team got to the state finals in 6A or 5A. He was recruited by UK, Wofford, Ball St., and some other schools. UK did not offer him but did offer another LB from Boyle County whose Dad politied for his son with the UK coaches for years. My co-worker's son outplayed the Boyle County kid in camps, but they offered the Boyle kid. So Wofford, a really fine academic school, offered Jordan in the early fall, and Jordan planned on signing with them. Jordan was doing great in his senior year until he tore his ACL mid-season. Well, Wofford yanked the offer faster than you can blink. So it looks like Ball St., or maybe Eastern Ky. U. or Georgetown College. His Mom is a wonderful person but clueless about the politics involved in recruiting, and as single mother who works full time, she did not have the time or contacts to help Jordan more. You would think the coaches would have done more, but the more I hear about it, if your kid is not a huge star, a parent will have to go to bat for junior. The local press even left Jordan off their Top 75 state recruits, which was beyond absurd and probably due to a lack of effort from the coaches to hype Jordan. These yahoos prolly only care about their own programs and getting better coaching jobs. If a player cannot help with either one of those, what do they care?

I'm surprised there wasn't a K-State on anyone's list. I don't know how many of you who have answered have ever been up there to the Campus there. I know as an OU Fan, I hate the place but with Snyder still there and K-States Campus is a pretty damn nice place....I do think they need some folks to pour some more dough into that grassy area they call a Stadium but when you look at the Campus and the recent History with Snyder as HC and the fact that it's relatively close to KC and that KC is an NFL Town...I can see why some kids might find it attractive to at least take a visit there especially if they are decent players looking for a guaranteed spot on the roster that would give them a lot of PT.

Years ago I met this guy who went to WVU and he swore they had some really hot coeds. He was from the D.C. area, so I did not doubt him since I found women from most parts of the country more attractive than D.C. women. Well we had training in Morgantown a few years ago and he was not joking. There were countless hotties all over the place. I talked football with some coeds who worked at the hotel and they thought WV was da bomb and would win the MNC. Anyway, there is something about coeds from rural-type states. They are so much hotter than city girls.

I would not visit OU because I know the school inside and out. I would talk to the coaches on in home visits only and let them know what a big fan of the program I am and see what their plans for me would be and then I would tell them "I'll let you know". Since I would be the #1 TE in the country and the history of history, I would have to look around. Oregon but the trip would be for checking out the scene(this is fake so my wife is not a factor) and the ladies. I would play them for free shoes and **** and then blow them off. Let the NCAA that they tried to pay me and what not an stir up a hornets nest for them. THEY CHEATED US and I will never forget! I would visit FSU, USC, UCLA, Ohio State, Arkie, Bama and my final visit would be to UT. I would make them think I was leaning hard on them. Make em really want me and really make OU think I was going to be a whorn all and week out from signing day I would go off the grid and tell all the schools that I have decided to become Samurai and I am going to walk the earth, meet lots of people and find adventure. This whole week would be spent vomiting because of what bad little whore I have been even stepping foot on that turd of a campus. Come signing day I would miraculously show up and let everyone know I am back in the game and I am not gonna go all Ricky Williams on everyone's ***. It would hurt but I would show up the the signing in all burnt orange head to toe all Ricky Fowler like and I would say. "It has been fun but I have decided to attend Oklahoma...State University? and put on a OSU hat then my clothes would burst into flames like I was some kind of Hollywood stunt man and I would be sprayed down with fire extinguishers and when I stand up I am wearing Sooner gear and I would say BAZINGA! I am heading to the UNIVERSITY of ****ING OKLAHOMA! BOOMER SOONER BITCHES! Then I would go on to win the H-man and whatever other awards TE's win in college football and win 4 MNC titles. Before I left OU I would recruit for the school and help them get players that would help them win 20 strait titles. The NFL draft would come and they would pay me a huge signing bonus and I would get a hang nail and not be able to play anymore so I would retire the greatest college football player of all time. I would live off my signing bonus and fund the movie and business I have always wanted to make and start and that all she wrote. BOOMER SOONER BITCHES!

Those saying Hawaii have undoubtedly never been to Hawaii, or have certainly never left their 5 star resort over a brief stay there. Hawaii is constantly ranked one of the worst states to live in, with a huge cost of living, high crime, soaring state debt, and a horrible educational system. Also, many experience "island fever," where you quickly feel trapped on a small rock thousands of miles out in the Pacific.

In addition, the racism in Hawaii is off the charts. I'd assume that most posters on here are white and are not very culturally aware of other places, but Hawaii is about the most racist place on the planet, with a relatively small white minority. Google the term "haole" and you'll quickly get an idea. The locals absolutely loathe haoles (that aren't spending money on the big island, obviously), and many schools still practice "kill haole day." Haoles can be openly discriminated against in employment and private school selection in lieu of Native Hawaiians as well.
