Ha! Just watched that as well! Robert Moog is an interesting guy; and great interview with Rick Wakeman. FYI...if you have an iPhone/iPad....there's a killer Moog app called AniMoog. I have no idea what I'm doing...but you can make some ridiculous sounds.

"King of Kong" is hysterical. Billy Mitchell is a such a dick!

not sure if it is on Netflix OD or not, but one of the best music documentaries is Standing in the Shadows of Motown, featuring the various musicians behind the Motown sound. So good.

does anybody know if they have a method by which you can request stuff for them to stream?

Save It For The Stage: The Life of Reilly - Charles Nelson Reilly's autobiographical one-man show was incredibly interesting.

Especially for someone who grew up watching him on television their entire childhood.

Seriously.

I love the Helvetica documentary! However, it may be because I am a designer. The same guy did another documentary called Objectified that is very interesting too.

I watched one called the Parking Lot Movie that was pretty great. The Story of Pixar is a must see as well.

Seriously.

I had a group of friends that made an entire albums worth of ethereal, strange ,musicish type stuff entirely centered on Helvetica...and the Swiss. Seriously.

I saw it via streaming...I guess Netflix cycles some of their material.

Brothers Keeper is another good one.

If you're a Minutemen fan...We Jam Econo was alright.

No question that Netflix is best for docs.

The two that I enjoyed the most were:

Restrepo - Chronicled a unit sent to fight in Afghanistan, and the subsequent death of one of their men (Restrepo). Great view of the war from the soldiers. It was a National Geographic production (which are usually good anyway).

(I may have the name wrong) = Exit through the gift shop - Doc about street art (with work from Banksy). Follows a guy (self-named Mr. Brainwash) that spent years shooting footage of street artist that he planned to make into a film. He ended up becoming a street artist (or a fake). Good flick.

Not sure if they're still on Netflix. I really don't like Netflix because the selection of new movies sucks balls.

Shows we missed when they were on the air.

Currently, we are coming up on the end of BSG. We didn't have cable when it aired, so this is our first time to watch it. Love it.
Also, slogging through past seasons of Mad Men (although thats starting to get a bit boring) and Weeds (also, starting to get boring).

For movies though, yeah, there's not the kind of selection I would have hoped for.

You're all wrong. :excitement:

The best thing to watch on Netfix is the TV series "Lost".

I never watched this when it was on TV. Not one episode.

But my son started watching it one night while I was at my pc working. He watched 4 episodes or so. And I started half working/half watching too.
After that first night I was hooked.
My wife and I have now watched the first 3 seasons since Christmas break. That's 75 episodes!

Its awesome because you can go from one episode right to the next and there are no commercials.

I can't imagine watching Lost without waiting for random intervals inside the season

BSG and Mad Men were engrossing.

I'm in the middle of Parks and Rec and How I Met Your Mother now.

Restrepo was really good, Exit Through the Gift Shop was a little boring, I thought

Exit through the Gift Shop did drag a little at times, but Restrepo is awesome. I just got in to Parks and Rec too. After Steve Carell left The Office, I was looking for another Thursday show, so I gave Parks and Rec a try. I liked it so much I went back and watched some older episodes...funny stiff!

Has anyone watched Catfish? It's a doc about a guy that starts a relationship with a girl on Facebook only to learn the "girl" is really an older married woman with two disabled kids. The knock is that the film may have been set up and not real. After watching it, I can see that being a possibility because it's hard to believe there are people that "off" out there.

I think I caught it on HBO OnDemand or something. Netflix does have a lot of docs available, so I don't know if they have it or not. I remember when The Cove won an Academy award, I was able to catch it on Netflix the next day.

I've recently been getting into foreign war movies. Interesting perspectives from a non-Ami point of view. The guy that plays Citron in this one is fascinatingly disturbing.

Four more I consider excellent viewing:

French film from 1969, on many lists as one of the best movies ever made.

http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/1010/70067848.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/62/70067848.jpg/)

Similar Norwegian version of Flame and Citron:

http://img593.imageshack.us/img593/4646/70123013.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/593/70123013.jpg/)

More modern conflict from Israeli perspective. It AMAZES me how casual and nonchalant the discipline is in the IDF, yet they did their job:

http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/8879/70086951.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/210/70086951.jpg/)

Another Danish perspective, this time in the modern Middle East. Really well done.

Bionic Woman Lindsay Wagner was at a Comic Con I attended a couple of years ago, at an autograph table. I stopped and watched her for a few minutes. She was quite gracious acting and gracious looking at age 60.

Wow. This is about as visceral as it gets. So many different emotions. The way the movie uses the sequence of events to tell the story along with the use of black and white, very powerful.
