Oklahoma City man who eluded police charged with assault Richard Ephriam Lee, 44, nearly struck officer with van during pursuit

An Oklahoma City man who tried to elude police and was shot after nearly striking an officer with his van was charged Thursday with assault.
Richard Ephriam Lee, 44, was charged in Oklahoma County District Court with aggravated attempting to elude a police officer and assault with a dangerous weapon. He also was charged with failing to pay registration on his van and driving with a suspended license.
Lee was pulled over Dec. 13 by a Valley Brook Police officer for having expired tags, but sped off after he was asked to step out of his 1991 GMC Van.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers and Oklahoma City police officers joined in the pursuit, making several attempts to take Lee into custody.
