Started me off right. My dad read the Hobbit to me and my sister before bed in the early 1970's, then I moved on LOTR, Dune, etc. Probably did more than anything else to build my reading/vocab. There simply are not too many writers of the English language any better than Tolkien.

Nyekulturny. So what is it you do like? Sipping on a Zima while watching Brokeback Mountain?

Well it is the Baylor version of Brokeback. RPG3 is in the tent instead of Heath Ledger and he is wearing those socks Sic Em always talks about.

Dragons, orcs, even the Dark Lord Sauron, couldn't keep me away. And, I hate going to the cinema.

Go ahead and sit through your own apocalypse. Dude, you got a thing against hobbits, wizards and some pretty cool story telling? J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy fiction draws very heavily on our European-based myths and roots with just the right emphasis on morals, in my opinion. And, Peter Jackson is pretty good in re-telling these tales as they should be.

Interesting snippets in there from what I suppose will be the second movie - Dol Guldur, etc.

I'm interested in seeing this, but I wish it had come first. It's a little tough building a real sense of dread and danger when you know the real thing is still coming, and you've already seen it.

I am really looking forward to it, but I am trying to temper my expectations because this movie is going to have to be so different than the LOTR triology.

Yes, material from the Appendixes (White Council, Necromancer, Dol Guldur) is said to be included throughout the story.

The two movie titles i believe are The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There and Back Again.

Can't quite figure out what you mean by that. Care to elaborate?

The Hobbit is not all happily-ever-after as the trilogy is. Some big characters will be killed and and it's under completely different circumstances.

My 6th grade teacher had us read the book and do worksheets over it in about 1984. Read FOTR right before the movie came out. Loved the books and movies. Moved on to the first 3 books in the Dune series...brilliant writing.

So True. Can you imagine if someone filmed him cleaning up the chicks he's finally got around to? I mean....what was it, like 5 years of him telling us about his follies as Bridesmaid to his Ex-Boyfriend?

I'm truly amazed he's even talking like he's interested in something that doesn't have a penis.

It makes the Geek, Nerds and Fanboy comments so damn funny that I the mere thought of him cleaning up is probably something that looks like Avatar in 3D....lol
