When I was in the 8th grade, I went to hear him talk at an FCA meeting in Tulsa. This was about 1982. He did a good job but I think his speech has gotten worse over the years. I don't recall having to interpret what he was saying.

Dan Rather spoke at my commencement. He didn't make any sense. He just brought up subjects and then moved on to other random subjects.

As an example, I remember him saying "Oklahoma. As a young reporter, I met a young seargent from Oklahoma...." And then that was it. He went on to something else.

How ironical. He wouldn't come here with his Arky team.

He spoke to my company in Dallas at the end of the 90s just before we hired Stoops. He talked a lot about expectations on coaches and had some good comparisons of that to other positions of leadership and management. I was very impressed by him.

He also at that time said he had decided to get back into coaching, so I immediately thought about OU. Almost anyone who had been through the 90s at OU would be pretty excited about him taking over for a few years back then.
