Here is the link to how each of the coaches voted in the poll......some highlights.

No one voted Alabama worse the 3rd. Several people has OSU out of the top 3 including both Nick Saban and Gary Pinkle.

I just lost a ton of respect for Saban. Of course I expect him to put Bama 2nd, and I believe they deserve that. But, Stanford's loss wasn't even a close game.

Troy Calhoun had OSU 5th, behind Arkansas. Really. Not kidding. And you don't think the ESPN hype machine works? There's no way Calhoun came up with that on his own.

Why? He didn't vote them #9 or anything. How has osu established themselves to be clearly better than Stanford or Boise St? Is losing to a powerful Oregon or a TCU worse than losing to a crappy ISU?

Because he's obviously using his vote just to help his team. The classy thing to do would be to vote Alabama 2, OSU 3 given what happened on the field this weekend. And, to answer your 2nd question, OSU has more wins over +.500 teams. BSU and Stanford's schedule are a joke.
