Everything you need to know and more! (http://gawker.com/5863804/the-old-persons-guide-to-skrillex)

1. I like dubstep better than I liked rap, the first time I heard rap.

2. It sucks pretty hard.

Welcome to the Next Big Thing! I had really hoped that whatever took the place of rap would be more... palatable... melodic... listenable, but I'll find a way to like this, if it's going to stick.

I liked dubstep for about 2 days and then I guess I sobered up... very popular for 12-18 year old males. this is the only dubstep I'll listen too now.

It's a syncopated bass line, mostly. Kind of annoying.

I have a 16 year old, and he loves the crap. I asked him who the most famous "Dubstepper" was, and he said "Skirillex" (which I keep referring to as Skillets, just to annoy him). I asked if he wanted any of his music for Christmas, and he replied "Dad, that's too mainstream now!". I have no idea what in the hell that meant, but I'm just glad I don't have to hear that **** when he's at his moms.

What he means is that he will just dl it for free, so he wants you to spend money on something that he cant get for free.

It's been over 15 years, and I'm still getting crap from my boys from when I erroniously referred to that rapper they liked as "Snoopy Dog Dog".

I knew someday that Country and Rap would get together to create CRAP.

Saw it last night....

Deadmau5 is more dubstep than house. I actually like Skrillex. And comparing this to rap is like comparing country and rap. Two different genres. Dub is an offshoot of techno/house.

I have the capacity to enjoy dubstep in limited doses. For the same reason that I enjoyed Jungle/drum end bass 15 years ago. I always hated House, but the addition of distorted bass to melt your face makes it something I can do, but then I like old hip hop and electronica...so.

Musically, the only thing I can't handle is Bieberish, Twilighty, Emo POP, and bubblegum Country.

My kids can Skrillex me to death. It will be the latest, greatest POP tart that will be hard to take.

He has only made 1 dubstep song in 'raise your weapon'. I disagree.

my 16 year old loves that dubstep stuff.

I'm embarrassed for him.

I slip in my MC Hammer and Milli Vanilli disks in his car when I get the chance. Gotta culture the kid.

The first two or three times I called this guy Skillets, it was because I thought that's what his name was. Now, I continue to call him Skillets, because he hates it. Kinda like yelling "I love you" out of the window when he has friends over and I'm leaving. I have become my father.

That's funny, because it's most likely true.

It's cool for a little bit. Fun for parties. (I'm 22 so take that with a grain of salt...)

Seems to clear out the females. Need some good ol Benny Benassi. Throw this down at a party and see what happens

I have actually never heard the term "dubstep". I just saw that Korn is releasing a new album tomorrow and it is a mix of rock and dubstep.
