In case you haven't heard the U.S. bombed and killed 24 Pakistani troops (http://news.yahoo.com/pakistan-24-troops-dead-nato-helicopter-attack-140517725.html). This has made Pakistan's government order the U.S. to "vacate" an air base used for suspected drone attacks, in retaliation for a NATO strike (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/11/26/deadly-border-strike-inflames-tensions-between-us-pakistan/#content).

Meanwhile intervention in Syria is starting to be talked about (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2065829/West-moves-closer-Syrian-intervention-France-calls-humanitarian-corridor-country.html). The thing is Russian war ships have been giving supplies to Syria that includes anti-aircraft missiles and is warning that an attack from the West is a "red line" it will not tolerate (http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/150059#.TtL2lnNqxyR). Also, there is evidence that Iran has given Syria supplies and backed their government (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/syria/8558066/Foreign-Office-confirms-Iranian-support-for-Syria.html) and they said they would bomb NATO and US bases in Turkey if attacks were launched from their soil against Syria (http://atimetobetray.com/blog/iran-threatens-turkey-reveals-missile-silos/).

Oh yeah, Syria has also pointed their SCUD missiles at Turkey (http://www.presstv.ir/detail/212313.html).

We can't pull out of there. Oh no, we're the world police and our job to get involved with other people's business. We're no isolationist, because only crazy Ron Paul supporters want that. No, we're going to continue to **** around in that region costing more money and lives and have something really, really bad blow up in our face.

The Associated Depressed article called the event a "mistake".
Wow! Glad I wasn't involved.
Heads gonna roll over this!

The biggest miscalculation in that whole area is the belief that Pakistan would be a faithful ally.
:moody:

Nothing good is gonna come of all this!

Diver,
You got a story with more details?
I know that someone fired on us. But, the stories that I have seen so far say that we may have been off target in our air support.

LATEST FRIENDLY FIRE NEWS

Just saw Ret Gen Bob Scales on FOX - Greta.
He has inside info...
Says the the Pakistani outpost spotted some troop movement - fired a flare - then started firing at the troops.
BAD CALL!
What they were firing on was a joint U.S.-Afghan patrol.....who called for supportive fire.
The closest asset WAS....an AC-130 gunship!
That's why the heavy Pakistaini casualties.
Will Pakistan admit that the mistake was theirs???
We'll see.

I once heard a talking head say:

"The US cannot win the War on Terror without Moslem allies."

But with friends like the Pakis who needs enemies?
