Over the years that I have been a member of SoonerFans.com I have had the opportunity to share my story both in posts and in person at 'tailgates" in Norman and Kansas City...:

My father took me to my first OU game in 1950...no easy task for a man from the panhandle but OU was his passion...since that time I have visited with him at half of every game...last Saturday when I called the nursing home to talk to Dad his nurse said he was asleep and very weak but that he would tell him I called...

I got a call at 6:41 last Sunday morning that Dad had died...today will be a tough... no call but a "game"...

"Sooner born and Sooner bred and when I die I will be a Sooner dead! Go Oklahoma!"

Boomer! Sooner!

So sorry to hear that news. But now he has the best seat in the house, and you are spending the day doing something that meant so much to you both. What better way to remember your dad? God bless.

I am sorry for your loss. I had the same thing with my Dad and he passed 3 yrs ago. To this day I still think of calling him after the game to discuss. But what great memories I am sure you have.

Being relatively new to this father game, I am sure I mess things up more than I get them right. I just hope when the journey is over, my son will look back and know how much his dad loved him. Im sorry for your loss. I feel your father is happy to know how you keep his memory.

Your Dad got to live through the complete majesty of the program, from then to now.

He left you quite the legacy. Cheers, bro.

Lots of love for your father, and I know he's up there looking down and smiling with a big ole BOOMER SOONER grin.

Bless you, panhandle. Losing a parent is tough.

So sorry or your loss my friend. I too lost my dad and understand the pain that a son goes through when he loses his old man. Keep your head up. He's probably up there chatting with Box and all the other fallen sooner legends as we speak!
