Gotta beat osu or we open up the possibility of the SEC swallowing itself whole and osu getting back in the title game position.

The current standings illustrate how the 3-way tie breaker rule that the big12 adopted after the '08 season has flaws. If Arkie beats LSU, they might make number 1, but Bama would be 1 behind them and own the head to head. That takes away from the drama and it has to put a doubt in the minds of the players during preparation. To magnify the scope of the game, it would be better if the Arkie team had expectations they had a good shot at the conference if they win.

Yup. They need to beat LSU... but not so bad that LSU drops below Alabama... but bad enough that Arky passes Alabama. This is the rule that the media kept referring to as the standard when they would say that the Big 12 rule in 2008 was soooooo bad.

I was going to guess 11...

I was thinking more like 12-13. I'll take 9.

But more importantly... let's do something about it.

I'm trying to imagine a way the trophy goes to a non-SEC team and I got nothing.

OSU has a shot if they beat us. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

Not sure our BCS ranking matters. Right now we're just playing for a share of the Big 12 championship and a BCS bowl.

For OU right now, the BCS only matters due to the situation that OSU could still somehow make it to the MNC unless we do something about it.

only if bama loses to allbarn, otherwise it will be all sec west. although bama could lose and then arkie beat lsu and georgia and then it would be an arkie-lsu rematch

Bama losing to Auburn...probably won't happen, and LSU beat Arky and UGA. Pokes beat OU or Va Tech wins ACC I guess.

I hope Georgia beats LSU and LSU and Bama still play for a title. A title game between two SEC teams who didn't even win the SEC would highlight the absurdity of this stupid system. Since ESPN took over coverage of the BCS, I've found the whole system even more sickening.

i was thinking about that

Georgia would be in the Gator Bowl or something if that happened

Now that I think about it, would there be an exemption to the rule about a conference only getting two BCS spots if two who didn't win the league are ranked in the top 2 in the BCS?

Georgia would be in the Sugar for winning the SEC. SEC would have 3 in BCS bowls because 1 and 2 were both SEC. It's the one and only occasion where a conference can have 3.

Yes, that is possible, but it's so complicated I forgot the details.

Yeah they would need to be #1 and #2 with neither having won the conference.

If Bama beats Auburn, it will be SEC vs SEC no matter what.

booked.

No way LSU will drop behind Okie St. Even if Arky beat LSU and somehow gets the nod, they lose to Georgia. It will still be LSU Vs Bama

I'm still not seeing a non-SEC champion because the scenarios sound less likely than me winning the lotto. Hey, maybe I should go buy a ticket...

You can "not see it" but no matter how unlikely the scenario is, it is out there. I congratulated the SEC satruday night on winning their 6th NC in a row because of exactly what you are saying but it's not 100% that it's going to happen. Still quite a few games left.

But it's really down to 2 games. Auburn beating Bama, and as I said above, not likely to happen but possibility is there. And LSU beating Arky. That opens up either Ok State or VaTech.

what would be interesting is if bama loses and lsu wins out. osu, va tech and stanford all lose again. who would be 2?

OU! We're back in it! Seriously though, a win over OSU probably would jump us over those other two loss teams. I don't know what would happen with Houston and Boise in that scenario. In reality, Bama probably would stay at 2, knowing the predisposition of a lot of voters out there.

Still digesting Saturday's craziness. Please don't throw another crazy weekend or two in the mix. It would be between all those teams you mentioned, OU, and Arky. It would be an absolute mess.
