Bob Stoops is a top tier head coach. Nobody is doubting his ability as an Xs and O’s coach, but he tends to have a hard time getting the team up for the games he should win.

Aside from 2000 national title season, and 1999, the year prior to the magical run, there have been inferior opponents trip them up consistently. College football has a high turnover rate, and many great players come and go, but great coaches are able to make up for injuries and lack of experience at least every 3-4 years to make a run at a national title. This is considering the facilities, boosters, fan base, and recruiting is top notch which is the case at the University of Oklahoma. I can live with loosing to a great Florida team when you played hard and came up short, but when you loose to teams you have no business loosing to it is a problem.

People will probably look at this list and say what about Boise State? Well, Boise State was undefeated and a better team than OU. In 2006, if it wasn’t for Texas choking two games, they would have been playing Boise State. People tend to forget that OU was trailing 28-10 at a point in that ball game until the rally occurred. Everyone just remembers the trick play on a two-point conversation.

1. Oklahoma State 2001- OU was 30 point favorites and just flat out laid an egg. This ruined Ou’s shot to at least go to the national title and play Miami.
2. Texas Tech 2011-This could be by some to be the worst home loss of Stoop's career. With a sub-par Tech squad is currently sitting on a four game losing streak of blowout losses. This loss is a true embarrassment to the program and the squad. Yes, your kicker misses crucial field-goal attempts, but it was obvious for 2-3 weeks the team had not been ready to compete, and you allowed them to play with a sense of entitlement that since they were OU you could win by default.
3. Kansas State 2003- This could also be in the running for the worst loss to an inferior opponent, but I will give Bill Synder some dignity and saw that was a above average K-State squad. OU already knew they were going to the national championship by having the largest lead in BCS history, and everyone was saying this team ranks with the greatest teams of all time. That was probably the biggest upset of all time. OU lost their swagger, confidence, and rhythm and fell to an excellent team defense of LSU.
4. Texas A&M 2002-Oklahoma was ranked #1 and lost on the road to a quarterback off the bench named Reggie McNeil.
5. TCU 2005- OU just assumed they would show up and beat TCU; because they were an inferior opponent, and OU had the decal on the helmet.
6. Colorado 2007- OU blew a double digit lead in the first quarter and derailed there chance at a national title, when they went on to destroy the #1 team Mizzou by 21 points in the big 12 title game. Colorado was terrible the first and each season under Dan Hawkins.
7. Texas Tech 2007- Bradford was knocked out of the game, and they had no backup plan. The defense played terrible.
