Ah, the Ice Cream of the Past

I was hoping no one had posted this yet when I saw the thread title. Well played, sir.

Viking Kitten Jr. will never experience the ice cream of the future. How sad.

They claim they'll keep going despite bankruptcy, but I don't see how they can. Like the article stated, they were a gimmick and an expensive one at that.

That's okay. I can make her some of this. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-12569011)

I loved it, but not so much as I haven't had it in about 3 years.

Is it too much? I was like 5 bucks for a cup of ice cream. That's no worse than Cold Stone or the like.

Locally, I've seen the re-emergence of frozen yogurt places. They're sprouting up like crazy. Has something changed in the frozen yogurt world that I missed?

Just wait until y'all get a taste of Icepan ice cream. Truly the Cadillac (or Lexus, to be more accurate) of high brow ice cream joints.

No it's just trendy....The market is WAY oversaturated with them and most will probably fail. In fact I know Lemon Tree on 104th and Penn in the OKC is closing....

I hope one near us doesn't close. It was doing so well when it opened that they raised the price within a few weeks and there were still crowds.

But... that was during a record setting hot summer. How will these places do during an offseason?

I would say cold stone is overpriced to...I like Braums just as well....

This 1000 times. When people ask me what I miss most about Oklahoma, Braum's is one of the top items on the list.

Braum's, Murphy's Steak House, Lot-A-Burger, the Price Tower, the Greek House, a caesar burger from Boomerang, Saturdays in Norman in the Fall, snow on the South Oval, theater at Holmberg Hall, the Great Reading Room, the Special K burger at Brothers, and a strawberry blonde I used to know.

Looks like I'll be saving 10$ when the gf wants to go to White Water. Good but not 5$+ good, just like the mentioned Cold Stone.

There is one that opened up close to my house, and they had their grand opening a couple of weeks ago (the very day we got 10"+ of snow). It just struck me as odd that a frozen yogurt joint would have a grand opening in the winter. Kinda like having a hot chocolate stand open on in the middle of July.

As far as ice cream goes, I'd take a scoop of Braums chocolate chip over just about any other place out there. We don't have 'em in Colorado, so it's definitely high on the list of things I miss in OK.

Braum's & Taco Bueno when I lived in St. Louis. had to stop on the way home every time. They have Braum's in Springfield, MO now at least.

The yogurt at that Lemon Tree place tastes like lemons no matter the flavor. Weird
