The more I think about it, the more I think Bedlam will decide one participant in the BCS title game. Obviously, Oklahoma State controls its own destiny as one of the last two major undefeated teams. However, if we are in a situation where the Cowboys get beat, especially if Oklahoma is the team to beat them, the Sooners may be the voters only reasonable option if they want to avoid a rematch for LSU.

If that scenario arises, we are looking at three likely opponent choices for LSU:

1. Alabama, which gave the Tigers the better game, but it was a short time ago and the Tide lost to LSU at home. Alabama won't even be a division champion.

2. Oregon, which was not especially competitive in its season opening loss to LSU, which took place in Dallas. The Ducks would be Pac-12 champs though.

3. Oklahoma. The Sooners haven't lost to LSU yet, which would probably appeal to voters, and would also be a confernece champ. The champion, in fact, of the highest rated league. Of course, their one loss was a pretty yucky one (yes, that is a scientific term).

I think what little history we have shows voters would go for the Sooners, and the computers would likely back that up.

People DO realize we have to go on the road to play the second-ranked team in the country without our two best players, right?

Being an Oklahoma fan has been a clinic on how the BCS works. If Jerry Palm is ever under the weather, I could fill in for him.

Everyone who is honest with themselves knows we are in the game IF we win out. Like it or don't, even Bama and Oregon fans know this.

very true. but i think people are gonna take OU over OSU until OSU finally beats OU. kinda like how people just assumed OU would win all home games this year. It's just how it is.

i disagree. whaley is not one of our 2 best players. hes most definitely not one of our 2 most valuable. i mean finch is more than a reasonable replacement and is arguably more explosive. We also have more than replaced his short yardage value in bell.

You would think that osu might catch on to that bell formation a little better than aTm....hint osu he's run it 8 times out of 10 times he been out there....

I'm pretty sure people are aware of that. If we lose, we'll go to the Fiesta Bowl assuming we beat Baylor and ISU. Our team has dominated the good teams on our schedule, which gives me a lot of hope for the OSU game. Plus, I'm not sure Whaley was one of our two best players. I think he was having a great year but Fleming and Alexander are probably our best players after Broyles IMO, and Landry of course. Fleming might be the MVP of this whole team. Just watch the Tech game film if you need evidence of that. Whaley and Broyles don't play defense and solid to dominant defensive play was always what gives us a chance to beat OSU and our bowl opponent anyway.

Jake Trotter just posted on Twitter that the Fiesta Bowl is eyeing an Oklahoma/Nebraska match up if Nebbish gets an at large. While I'd obviously rather see OUr boys in the MNC, I'd kinda like the Nebbish match up. I think we'd roll them though

Meh....I don't want to give them the satisfaction of playing us for a long long time. Their treason is still WAY to fresh. I'd rather play Stanford or an SEC team.....or maybe a Houston to mop the floor up with....

And you do realize that Oklahoma St.'s defense does suck in their biggest games and Oklahoma is the nation's sacks leader, which spells trouble for Weeden who only completed 56% of his passes for a little over 200 yards and just 1 TD against Texas, the best defense they have faced until they face Oklahoma, right? In the two biggest conference games of the season, Oklahoma crushed Texas and KSU where Oklahoma St. struggled against both. A constant for Oklahoma this season is they show up for the big games and I imagine playing the #2 ranked team in the nation is a big game for the players.

And Finch's rushing average is slightly better than Whaley's was. Oklahoma misses Whaley but Finch isn't chopped liver! Plus, Oklahoma appears to have resolved their goal line scoring problems with the "Belldozer", so there are areas this team has improved.

What you say about their D is true, but our D has had issues with the better OLs this year. Take the teck game for instance. OSU's OL will be the best one that we face this year. BV had better really mix it up and keep Weeden and co. guessing. Taking this game as a foregone conclusion is silly. We had one good game of the "Belldozer" let's not get ahead of ourselves...
Do we have a good shot? Yes. Do we have a decent shot of losing? Yes.

ATM's offensive line is actually very good and Oklahoma handled them pretty well. Bell picked up first downs in the KSU game as well. We shouldn't take anything from the Texas Tech game as that game was a fluke. Just as Iowa St.'s win over Texas Tech was a fluke. What we do know is in the two or three biggest games for Oklahoma, they showed up and took care of business. In Oklahoma St.'s two biggest games, Texas and KSU, they had close tough battles in those games.

I have never heard ATM's OL as being VERY good. Oh yeah, including the TE, they have 3 sophs, 1 frosh and 2 juniors. heh Yeah, that's salty alright.
We shouldn't take anything from the tech loss? I'm glad you're not on the coaching staff (we'd be screwed with you there) because it showed gaping issues in our coverage scheme and personnel and what can happen if a qb gets hot and is accurate. Accurate, due to no press from the DEs.

I think that's going to cost us more than people realize, especially if we do get to play LSU. Losing Broyles is especially deflating. We don't even know how our offense will operate without him. Over the years, he has been the one consistent player and constant bright spot in the offense. If LJ is a little off, a couple throws to Broyles. If the offense isn't doing anything, give it to Broyles in space and he'll make a big play. Unfortunately, the Baylor defense isn't going to tell us much about our offense I don't think. With Broyles out, we become a much easier team to defend. There is nobody in the lineup who can come close to taking his place.

LSU needs to lose, OU needs to beat Baylor, Iowa State and OSU, and this is something most people are forgetting is that the OU/Texas Tech game was NOT seen by very many people,(because of the delay TV went to another game) and the score 41-38 doesn't show how poorly OU played that night. OU's DEFENSE needs to play like no one else!!!

People will be asking for a rematch of the OU/OSU game......

I'm hoping this week that we'll be 3rd and one on our own 40 and BB goes in, but throws a long touchdown pass.
That would be AWESOME

And therein lies the problem for the d-coordinator. This ain't no wide receiver or athletic d-back or running back back there. No way can you sell out to stop the BB.

We need to root for FSU and Tulsa to keep winning. That being said, Bama being idle and us playing Okie State in primetime on Saturday night, we have a chance to really make a move in all the rankings.
