Soooo...who is the better player. Peterson definitely is the more impressive specimen but demarcos production speaks for itself. Is his production more of a result of who he is playing with and that hes not the target of the defense or what?

I'd give DeMarco an edge with his pass catching ability.

I'd give AD an edge for his ability to break tackles and get Yards after Contact.

Peterson is getting older, and we all know how short the life of an NFL RB is. So sad that it goes by so fast. Peterson also is on a much, much worse team. The Vikings are such a joke.

Demarco is fresh.

Have you watched Murray recently? He is every bit as much of the beast that AD was his rookie year.

yeah I have, he is helluva impressive. But it's not like AD isn't producing anymore and he has been doing for far longer than DM29.

AD playing for Dallas right now with that passing attack would make AD look like and instant HOF RB, regardless of what he has done in Viking land.

Both great players and reps of OU. Peterson is the better RB. Murray gives you more in the passing game. Dallas offense is light years ahead of Minny's. The couple years AD had a QB to take pressure off of him, the coach didn't run the ball enough and let Favre wing it too much.

Too many ****in Dallas fans. I love DM but AD is a freak and if he wasn't the only player on his team he would be putting up ridiculous numbers. But the Vikes suck. I wish he wouldn't have signed that new contract. I know he has a family and that contract makes him a wealthy man, but you know that guy just wants to win games.

....Murray's played in 4 games, ask again in 4 years....it would be more appropriate at the end of the season to compare their rookie campaigns

This. Dallas is loaded on the offensive side. Vikings have nobody like Bryant, Witten and Romo.

Murray doesn't have to come out on third downs. He can catch AND block. Just sayin'.

coming into this week...AD's career avg is 95.3 rush yards per game and 18.8 rec yards per game...

Murray so far in his career avg 67.4 rush yards per game and 8.5 rec yards per game....

Also coming into today's games on the season AD has 9 rushing tds and 1 rec td...

Murray has 1 rushing td and 0 rec td.

stats just this year alone (murray's stay the same) AD avg 99.4 rush yards per game and 15.6 rec yards per game...

Yep gonna stick with AD as being better.

Adrian doesn't play on 3rd down because every coach he's had in the NFL has been a bonehead.
I'll take 'em both.

Murray is very impressive but he's not facing defenses that are designed to stop him. Murray has good holes to run through - something Peterson rarely has.

Are you serious? You're comparing YPG when Murray spent the first half of the year as a third string RB? Let's compare what he's done since he became a starter.

Here's some help for you. Murray had 2, 6, 2, and 4 carries his first four games. You don't seriously expect him to have great per game stats considering this do you?

That being said, Peterson is the better back even if the production doesn't compare to Murray's production as a starter.

Rookie Murray is a more complete back that rookie AD.

Yep, Peterson has yet to be in an offense where he actually fits. Murray found one right off the bat.

This is the silliest question I have ever seen. It is comparing Pee Wee Herman with Paul Newman.

I don't get all the Murray "hate".. hate isn't the right word... but he has been seriously undervalued by Oklahoma fans because according to some of you he had one great run against Texas his freshman year and it was all down hill from there.

It was the pee wee herman comment I believe that made me want to point it out that Murray's no scrub.

I agree he is no AD. But last year there were threads about how Murray should be benched for Finch, etc.

You act like he did something crazy like set the NFL single game rushing record against a good run defense while splitting carries with another good back during his rookie season.

1. That wasn't his first game 2. The Rams are the leagues worst run defense. 3. Peterson rushed for 296 against a top notch defense.

Murray is playing great football...Proud of him and how well he is doing..

I am really happy to see DM doing so well, but his OL is way better than AD's current line. AD had a really good OL his first two seasons and it showed. Now? Not so much. He is constantly getting contact behind the LOS.

I think it was more the fact that Peterson had Tavaris Jackson at QB

I'm not so sure that the Dallas line is that much better than what AD is working with in Minny, but the Vikings I believe have 30th ranked passing offense. This allows defenses to key in even more on AD, and for him to still be averaging about 100 yds on the ground a game so far is really something.

Demarco does have the benefit of having one of the better passing offenses in the league to take pressure off him, but Demarco has done a really great job of being productive on plays even when there really is nothing there. He's ability to stay patient has been key and his abilitiy to make the single cut and go has been impressive. Teams are going to have to start respecting him as a runner now and that is only going to make life easier for Romo and the Dallas receivers.

Let's not fool ourselves though...I think even if you were able to take a DeLorean back in time with current Demarco to the 2007 draft, you'd still take AD over Demarco 10 times out of 10. I think the same would hold true if you took present day AD into the future 4 years after Demarco has had ample time to shine, you would still take AD 10 times out of 10.

AD's explosiveness is unmatched and does things no other back can do. He's simply a cut above everyone else at RB.
