The #2 BCS team as the #116 total defense? WOW!

points scored while the game is still within 28 points, is the only defensive stat that means anything

Why 28? For a team like Bama it might be as low as 14, since they can eat up so much clock. And for a game like last night's where both teams were at 50 by the end of the third, is 28 enough?

OSU is undefeated because of turnovers.

That's a good point. I basically meant, when the game is out of hand...and 14 points is never out of hand, for any team unless there's 10 seconds left.

OSU's scoring defense when it matters has been pretty good. However, their LB's looked like **** vs KSU. They couldn't shed blocks, and from every bad angle, couldn't wrap up.

OTOH, we looked worse than that vs Tech, but much better vs everyone else...where's the Tylenol.

Truth. I have no idea what to expect from this team. You'd think we would know more this far into the season, but the psychology of the defense is what is so random. It speaks to poor team leaders...

Defensively, how can osu be 7th in conference and 116th nationally, while Baylor is 9th in conference and 113 nationally?

I'm guessing just a typo. But boy does OSU suck on defense. If they somehow manage to beat us it'll get ugly in the Superdome...

Corrected: Oklahoma State should have been 110th nationally. Wow...that still really sucks.

Gah! You weren't giving the pokes the credit they deserve. They are an elite team now.....

Wow, OU managed 124 yards against a Tech rushing defense ranked 118.

That's what happens when a team doesn't give much effort in practice and knows they can win without even showing up. The Sooners then proceeded to play like it.

I thought practices were closed. Were you in a helicopter?

A helicopter isn't necessary, plus a helicopter would be too obvious.

Let's see the No. 3 and No. 4 offenses smoked the No. 15 defense on the scoreboard.

Hmmm, wonder how they would fare against the mighty SEC defenses??

Nobody in this league plays defense like the top of the SEC. We've done well in the 3rd quarter and when healthy I think we're pretty stout but I don't understand all of the folks on here ragging on the Bammer/LSU game.
I thought it was great, ala OU/Nebbish in the 80's.

There is no doubt that the top tier of the SEC plays superior defense. In fact, by looking at the numbers, you'd be hard pressed to say any of the Big XII teams play much defense. On the other hand, watching the LSU/Bama game was also watching some pretty putrid offense. I remember some OU/NU games that were defensive battles, but back then, college football was a run first game. The pass-happy offensive schemes weren't around. I'm afraid that defense still wins championships, and it won't matter how great an offense is if they can't play decent defense. But, that's for another thread.
