2011-12 Sooner Hoops begins tonight with the first of 2 exhibition games.

Unless you've been under a rock then you know that this will probably be a tough year and that we have a new coach. What I do expect is hard-nosed, tough play night in and night out. I don't expect us to challenge for a Big12 title, much less a NCAA birth, however, battling for some postseason glory towards the end of the year would be welcome.

TUESDAY'S GAME BASICS
Lon Kruger will patrol the sideline for the first time as OU head coach when the Sooners host Northeastern State in an exhibition game Tuesday night at Lloyd Noble Center. The contest, OU's first of two exhibition game this season, is scheduled to tip at 7:07 p.m. CT and will air on the Sooner Radio Network (KOKC AM 1520 in Oklahoma City; KTBZ AM 1430 in Tulsa) with Toby Rowland and Mike Houck announcing (it will be joined in progress following Sooner Sports Talk with Bob Stoops). The game will be televised by the Sooner Sports Network (Cox Cable 3 and 703 in Oklahoma City and Tulsa) with Bob Carpenter and Billy Tubbs calling the action. A live webcast will be offered for free on SoonerSports.com.

Hopefully we make some sort of post season tourny. It's been way too long. I'm excited to see the "Kruger era".

Lon continues to say all of the right things:

"The guys are working really hard," Kruger said Monday, echoing something he has said since taking over as coach last spring. "I couldn't be any more pleased with their effort or enthusiasm about having a good basketball team."

If you definitely don't want to watch crappy Tuesday college football:

TV: Cox 3/703 in Oklahoma City and Tulsa

Radio: KOKC AM 1520 in Oklahoma City
KTBZ AM 1430 in Tulsa
KREF AM 1400 in Norman

There is apparently also a webcast at SS.com.

A few of these SSN games have shown up on my Xbox in the past as well.

I know what I'll be watching during my awful 3 hour night class tonight...

I don't even care if I don't get to see the game. Just let me pleaseeeee get rosters and a box score. I'll be fine.

I really need to move back to Norman-ish soon. Anybody hiring English teachers? (And, if the school can afford me, basketball coaches...?)

Our OUhoops counterparts said Pledge is out tonite due to some class attendance suspension, but that it's only one game. Hmmm... ah well. Sounds like everyone else (that didn't transfer from last season) is in!

I have been watching on Channel 3 of Cox. First thing I noticed was the guys seem to like each other and are playing as a team. I know this is not like competition they will be facing this year but it is great to see them get off to such a great start!

I liked our swarming defense.

I liked our rebounding.

I like our shooting, especially the 50 percent from 3-point-range shooting (8 for 16).

What I was most impressed with was the players taking the time after the game to high-five every fan that was around the court from the students to the kids to the old fart alumni, thanking them for coming and supporting them.

This is a good group of guys with good coaching. Support them!

So... Vegas... no other mens basketball fans this season, huh?

Maybe if I do a womens basketball update those football fans will come over just to see if I've posted new pics of Sherri Coale

You know it always starts slow. The fans start coming around once football is winding down and we start playing teams other than Little Sisters of the Poor.

Poor excuse, little sister of the. It's bye week and we're almost outta national title contention in football. Basketball season is starting! No reason we all can't cheer for OU non-stop! :D
