In college, don't you get a bonus point for the second foot?

StoopTroup
10/29/2011, 11:07 PM
Rangers definitely died hard. You could hear the erections all go limp at once if you directed your ear south from Oklahoma....

Stupid penalty on sc. Just made it easier for the trees.

It seems to me that they're both about equally likely to make a conversion because they've been equally adept at getting the ball into the end zone all night long. What would make sense is that the first team on offense has to go for 2, but the second team only has to go for 1 if that's enough to win. Of course, that takes away a lot of the fairness that I like about college OT rules.

If a PAT is successful about 95% of the time, then a little more than 90% of the time both teams will make it or both teams will miss. If a 2PC is successful about 50% of the time then about a quarter of the time both will make it, a quarter of the time both will miss it, and half the time only one team will make it.

Of course the actual conversion rates will vary by team, but still, the odds of one team winning increase when both teams have to go for two, even if they have an equal shot at making it.

As far as them being equally adept at getting into the end zone, scoring touchdowns all game doesn't translate into being able to score on a single play from three yards out, as our goal-line woes from earlier in the season demonstrate. :)

Well, I didn't have a dawg in that hunt either. Neither game wanted to end. If anything, as an A's fan I would have been happy for Wash.

No kidding. The way we were getting hit by our "bad" wins, like the double digit ones in regulation to ranked teams, the Trees need to get reemed on this deal. But, they prolly won't drop nearly as far as they should. Talk about over-rated.

I decided last year not to sweat games like this, or to root for teams I usually can't stand, just because their knocking off a team I do like would increase our chances of getting back into the n/c game from 10% to 10.5%. usc is suc, they are the worst cheaters of all time in college football, Lane Kiffin is the dooshnozzle of all time among coaches with the exception of Lesslie, and I'm fine with a Stanford win.

TitoMorelli

fify, it would have helped out a lot More than my remark implied, yes. You're right, jumper. But I'm not assuming that a one-loss Alabama or LSU will be knocked out of the picture, or even knocked below us the following week. And I think the odds of either of them losing two games at this stage are slim.
