LOL

No PI

Two missed FGs

Pretty crappy Defensive scheme.

Numerous block in the backs not called.

Numerous holds not called.

Happy Feet Jones showing up.

What else can go wrong?

I hope we fall 20 damn spots. I also hope with Mike Stoops available, Bob really takes a hard look at what is important...loyalty or winning championships?

I have been holding my tongue about Venables for the past 4 years. And he shows his ability to adjust mid game (or lack there of). He has shown that he continues to use different defensive schemes for different teams. You cant do that. He has decided to put absolutely ZERO pressure on the Tech offense. Rushing 4 and dropping 7. When he did, OU was able to disrupt the Tech rhythm.

Those of you that are okay with BV...you really need to wake up and realize he is not the DC that will lead us to #8.

JiminyChristmas
10/23/2011, 12:21 AM
Well, pressure of the season is off. We can play loose the rest of the way. Focus on trying to work our way to another B12 championship.

For those wanting Stoops though, you have to ask if the game has passed him by. Since teams have switched to the spread I feel like Mike hasn't been nearly as good as he was at one time. I think he could do well in the SEC as that is his type of ball that he knows and could really coach.

Hey sooner fans......maybe it's time we demand defensive excellence consistently. Maybe it's time we demand our special teams actually be above average and hit field goals every now and then, actually block a kick every two years or so, or return one for a TD......god forbid. Maybe it's time we demand our offense be more diverse. Maybe it's just time. 2000 was 10 years ago.

I'm not saying he has no blame, there's plenty of that to go around. It just seems he's always the first to get targeted. First half we couldn't tackle for ****, that hurt us bad, gave tech some confidence.

Then, the O couldn't keep the D off the field. Not BV's fault.

Well... pity party over.... time to prepare for Kansas State.

Two missed fgs, doesn't excuse why our defense was able to allow 41 points.
Dropped passes cannot excuse why our defense was rushing only four 99% of the plays while leaving the middle wide open.
Not pulling Gabe Lynn earlier was a coaching decision...a very poor one. He had 4 burnt pieces of toast credited to him in the first half alone...so lets leave him in the second half and allow Tech to gain huge chunks of yards.
Missing two starters still doesn't effect the game plan.

I will say our execution in the first half and to start the 3rd quarter was **** poor. But our coaching was pathetic all game long!

Blame whomever you want, the buck stops with Stoops. I sure as hell don't want him replaced.

Oh, dont get me wrong this loss is not all on BV....but when we give up 41 points at home it is.

Our defense has shown it has the talent to shut down offenses. But when you allow the middle to stay wide open all game long. When you all the QB to mail christmas cards in the pocket all game long, when you leave players in that are not executing well (Lynn), then that is completely on the coaches. And yes, in this case all on Brent Venables.

We saw it against USC.
We saw it against Florida.
We saw it agaisnt West Virginia.
We saw it against a few other teams as well.

When we score 38 points, we should be able to win.

This loss may have been a team effort, just like every loss and win for that matter...but this loss is on the defensive scheme and coaching.

Guess what, if we kept giving Tech 3 and outs, like their top 3 defense was doing to our offense...oh wait...their defense is ranked in the lower 25%...then it doesnt matter if our offense was sputtering or not.

When you come out after half time and you give up a TD in just 4 plays...that is defense.

Granted, there was a bunch of bull**** no calls...a PI (which led to a shanked FG) wasn't called.
Numerous holds were not called. 3 on one drive for Tech that lead to their second TD of the second half...and one that would have made it 3rd and 20.
A few blocks in the back on tech not called, one that led to a TD.

This game was **** poor all away around. I could have seen this loss coming (just not to Tech) when we were playing Kansas.

SoonerMarkVA
10/23/2011, 12:45 AM
EVERYBODY blew this game. The defense was absolutely terrible at any point where it counted. The players and the coaches. The offense was anemic, with incredibly bad pass and run blocking, dropped passes, and Landry going about half the game what he usually only pulls 2-3 times a game. Special teams were a disaster. And as far as I could tell, we came out in the 2nd half doing exactly what we'd done to limp into the locker room after the first. This was, across the board, the worst performance I've seen since USC in the OB, and considering how bad the opponent, and being at home, it may have ultimately been worse than the '05 OB. Just amazing how everything played out.

Dudes and dudettes....the offense blew that's fo sho. But championship teams have a defense that can take control when the offense blows and we've never had that. Tech moved the ball at will on our all star defense we were promised before the season. The sharks suck. It's the same old problems year after year. Soft defense that can't cover the pass, especially in the middle of the field, doesn't play physical at all, can't take control when the offense is sucking blah blah blah. I'm tired of the excuses. I'm tired of watching receivers run free in our secondary week in and week out. It's been over 10 years sooner nation. I'm ****ing tired of it. SICK....of It. it's always the same weaknesses in spite of the raises the coaches get. Can't stop the pass and embarrassing special teams play. Our last national title was over 10 years ago. Get over it. It's not gonna happen again with the current staff. It's just not....

I dont want Stoops replaced either....but he is allowing his loyalty to ruin great seasons...he has allowed it for the last 10-11 seasons.

I am not saying OU is completely out of this. LSU or Bama will lose. Wisconsin lost today. This helps OU keep the hopes alive. Clemson will likely falter sometime this season.

So if OU can pull their heads out of their asses, and win out, they could be sitting in a position to play for the National championship. We wil just need both LSU and Bama to lose a game or two.

after watching the mizzou, kansas, and this game--in hindsight, i think i saw this coming. i know it sounds bad, but we just aren't where we all had hoped we were. if we really look at our performances over the course of this year, we have had some really good moments, but more moments that had us shaking our heads. i know we all wanted #8, but lets be honest, there were too many inconsistancies in our game to reach it. its hard enough to go undefeated with everyone healthy, and playing up for everygame, but we just have to accept the fact that our expectations clouded reality. i'm guilty of it as well. i honestly thought that we were going to make it to the BCSCG. the season is not lost! we still have alot of football to play, and stranger things have happened. however, unless we get our **** together, it could be a long second half of the season. we always have such high expectations, that a loss --especially like this one-- really stings. we need to regroup, and make sure we take care of business every single game from here on out. the quicker we all accept what just happened, the better. though not easy, we can still end up in a good spot.

to be honest, for me, its not the fact that we lost, i think the thing that hurts the most is the fact we lost at home.

remember, as bad as we as fans feel, the players feel worse. I really feel bad for alexander. losing the night he worse #12 is going to sting for a long time.

11 seasons ago, OU won a national championship.

From 1985 to 2000, that is 15 seasons. We are approaching a 15 year gap. Yes, national championships are hard to come by. But the biggest difference between 1985-2000 and this span is that OU has been the most successful BCS team in this span, sans national championships. between 1985-2000 OU had one of their worst stretches in program history.

Zactly. We're a dynasty that can't win the big game because we're not staffed to do so. We're just not. What has cost us in the national title games we've been in outside of the USC game? We couldn't score inside the 5 against Florida (twice). Couldn't punch it in inside the 5 against LSU which cost us the game. Same old problems........and they aren't getting fixed. Time for pushback on Bob from the fan base loud and proud. The media certainly won't.

The entire team looked awful, period. Defense was atrocious, and I almost felt sorry for our cornerbacks. Receivers, including Broyles, were all flat and uninspired. I'm about tired of seeing Stills loaf around, and not making attempts for balls that require just a little extra effort. Linebackers all out of position, and nowhere around on those 5 yard crossing routes. And the f'ing kicking game....its embarrassing. I wish I got a $50,000 dollar education for showing up and clanking field goals all night. Last but not least, we got outcoached. Not making an adjustment until the 2nd half is not acceptable. The fact of the matter is, this team felt entitled to win and didnt feel the need to show up. Maybe next year...so I say every year...

Linebackers out of position? Hell, that was by design. We played a soft zone and the LBs were responsible from the hash to sidelines leaving the middle wide open!

I am just wondering when our coaching staff will realize that every game is the same problem. offenses realize that OU is going to void the middle. Why can't we stop this patty cake defense and become aggressive again? When can we see a defense with three real linebacksers and not two. When will we see a defensive game plan that is not afraid to bring more guys than they can block?

Yes, we got burned on it a few games when Mike Stoops was in charge. But we were a feared defense. Now we are a defense that is adequate to win a big 12 championship, but not a national championship.
