All over twitter and here's the school paper article

LSU sophomores Spencer Ware and Tyrann Mathieu will be suspended for Saturday's game against Auburn after reportedly failing a drug test, a source told The Daily Reveille on Wednesday.

The suspensions could turn into multiple-game suspensions as well.

Michael Bonnette, LSU's Associate Athletics Director and Sports Information Director, did not comment on the matter, but neither confirmed nor denied the reports, saying he will speak with LSU coach Les Miles this afternoon.

Ware is the Tigers' starting running back and has gained 512 yards as part of a dynamic LSU rushing attack.

Mathieu has garnered widespread Heisman hype after forcing six turnovers and scoring two touchdowns on defense and special teams this season.

Most interesting will be if the suspension is more than one game. Isn't Bama after Auburn for LSU

This will just be more fuel for the media fire to push for a LSU / Alabama rematch is LSU ends up with players suspended in the 'bama game.

NO there is another game after this week before they play. NO WAY they miss the Alabama game. Not a chance.

^^^ I can't think that they would still be "suspended" for the 'Bama game...not the way they run their program.

If it's true, what on earth possesses these young men to this sort of thing? Of course, remembering how LSU treats their recruits,
it isn't surprising. Just answered my own question...

Yes, LSU is off next week. Believe me, the local media down here is really looking forward to cranking up the hype for 2 weeks.

There is a bye week after Auburn, so if it is for more than a game they will miss the Bama game. We're going to see just how big ole Lester's balls really are.

Naw closer, you really think they're going to throw it much w/ Moseley? I imagine it to be around the Mississippi State score. They'll run a lot so you guys can't blow them out. Worst case scenario your team doesn't show up emotionally and you win by a field goal or so.

I like how on the LSU boards some of the fans refer to it as his "first SEC start" rather than just his first start. They have to throw the conference into everything. I'm sure a guy's first SEC stretches or first SEC deep snap also has enhanced significance. The obsessoin some of those fans have for their conference never ceases to amaze me.

Hopefully this incident will hurt his chances to win the Thorpe award. I'd love to see Jefferson jump into the discussion, but more than anything I don't want an award based in Oklahoma to go to an egotistical druggie loser like Mathieu.

I like the comparison except for one MAJOR difference. LSU's QB is about as awesome as fat free vanilla yogurt. This will eventually be their demise. He's not a playmaker.

Honestly, a few college kids smoking some reefer ain't that big of a deal. Much less of a deal than assault in a bar like the guys before the season. Regardless, it is very selfish of them knowing the consequences.

LSU's substance abuse policy reads like this:

A second positive test results in a "suspension from up to 15 percent [rounding method used] of countable contests and/or suspension up to 30 days or combination thereof upon recommendation of treatment team. The penalty will be observed in all sports from the date of signed notification."That "15%" would amount to 1.8 games which would be rounded to 2...Auburn and Alabama.

Synthetic marijuana was added to the NCAA's "banned substance" list back in August. This might not be just an LSU thing.

They didn't have a playmaker at QB in 2007 or 2003 and still won.

The BCS title game being in New Orleans is like some kind of voodoo curse on college football. I bet LSU makes it there.

LSU quarterbacks have a 16 TD to 1 INT ratio right now, and our top receiver has 7 TDs and is averaging 19.3 yards per reception. If that's not making plays, I don't know what is.

We just don't throw it 30 times a game like OU does.
