Before the season their was talk of a 4 or even 5 man commitee at RB. That kinda of talk greatly concerned me, and really made we wonder about running game.

Nice to see Whaley put all the worries to bed. Its always great if you have a guy that is good enough to be the man.

For some perspective, that's a little over 5.5 y/carry. DM7 had 6 his freshman year, and 5.6 his sophomore year, but only had a combined total of 7 100-yard games in those 2 years...Whaley has had 3 in 6 games...all while working 20 hours a week and paying his own tuition. Guy's a stud. :)

Why doesn't he have a scholarship yet?

Because he's still a walkon.

Stoops won't give out a scholly mid season. He said it in a press conference. He will get one for next year though.

He walked on for the first game. Now he is just on. On=Scholly.

Can't give retro schollys anyway, right? Any scholarship given now would have to start during the spring semester..Or perhaps I am wrong again!

I don't know. I'm going to start a "Hey STEP" thread.

Stoops has never given schollys away during the current term. So why do it now?

Besides, Whaley fumbled against Kansas (hehe)

Big 12 wise, how is he looking stats leader wise?

Second in the Big12 in rushing yards. First in the Big12 in yards/rush in runners with over 100 attempts.

Henry Josey is first in rushing yards with 717 yards and a 9.7 yards/rush average. His stats are going to look even more ridiculous when he gets done with OSU

I bet Josey had a scholly at the start of the season.

I could tell you someone that imagined it, but it might sound boastful and self-promoting.

So I won't.

Oh, and I love the Whaley story. Runs hard, has some speed, etc... But, Finch needs more touches. He has another dimension, shiftiness, quick into the hole, whatever, that Whaley (and all of our other backs for that matter) lacks. Just sayin'.

I think Whaley/Finch give a nice one-two punch, because it forces the defense to adapt to different running styles.

With that said, Finchie tore some heads off on first contact. He rarely got brought down by the first defender. Nice to see him so hungry.

I loved when Finch ran over the jayhawk LB. And, Whaley has been doing that all season. Clay is a strong runner as well. For the first time under Stoops, we have the ability to wear out defenses with a power run game. That'll be valuable against KSU and OSU, and especially in the MNC if we get there.

Whaley reminds me of Allen Patrick the way he hits the holes. I used to love watching Patrick bust through the seam.

I disagree. I think its best for OU if Whaley gets 25+ carries a game.

He got injured again. Finch gets injured so easily. He is not a guy that we can count on at all. He is just too small.

I think he just got something in his eye fwiw. He seemed fine on the sideline later.
