Mountain West Conferenece and Conference USA agree to consolidate for 22-member conference.

C-USA commissioner Britton Banowsky and Mountain West counterpart Craig Thompson said the two conferences will merge into a football-only entity without affecting their status within the NCAA structure.

I don't know, but it made me do a double take when it came across the screen on espn....22 teams.

The same week-end that the other conferences have their championship game, this conference will have theirs. The two division winners play each other.

the conference will basically be known as the "discard" conference or the Dis22.

Its basically going to be the final destination for the schools that dont get invited to be involved with one of the surviving major conferences. Right now Ken Starr is following Deloss Dodds around picking up his discarded kleenexes and thanking him for saving Baylor from such a conference.

To be honest, this is something that I have been thinking all along, let the little guys duke it out and have conferences play each other for a way into a bcs game. They don't necessarily have to play inter division games- just the championship.

Unreal. I can't even begin to imagine how this is going to work. I'd put the over/under at 4 years when this experiment fails and divides.
