Who has the better defensive line?

Everyone is talking about LSU this and that...Bama this and that. But where does OU fit in?

These numbers are stictly for the Defensive line. This has nothing to do with linebackers or any other position set on defense!

Remember, OU has played one less game and Alabama plays with one less down lineman!

Sacks:

OU 14.5
Bama 3.5
LSU 10.5

Tackles for Loss:
OU 22.5
Bama 14.5
LSU 24.5

Tackles:
OU 105 (combined)
Bama 60 (combined)
LSU 104 (combined)

Speaking of our D-line, fun article this morning here (http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsextra/OU/article.aspx?subjectid=92&articleid=20111011_92_B1_CUTLIN797828). Here's a tidbit:

Oklahoma coaches don't want Oklahoma players listening to critics. Sometimes, though, it's unavoidable. Sometimes it's even helpful.

"We talked about this the whole winter, summer, spring and two-a-days. We talked about it as a D-line," said defensive end Frank Alexander. "We were like, 'We've gotta get better. They marked up the D-line for being one of the weakest links on the team. We can't have that.'

"So every day we made a point to come out and get better."

Thanks Badj...

Anyway...I am just perplexed that everyone is talking about how great the LSU and Bama lines are, yet OU matches up just fine with them...hell, their stats are better with one less game played!

Well comparing LSU and Oklahoma statistically makes more sense..A 3-4 dline never is going to have statistics to measure up....But the plays their LBs make show those guys up front are pretty impressive..

We are as good as anyone or better at the DE position..DT's LSU is better..

Their DTs and our DTs have identical sacks, tackles, and TFLs.

Because it is interesting none the less.

As teams stats go:

Sacks:
OU: #3 with 19 sacks on season.
Bama: #94 with 8 sacks on season
LSU: #42 with 13 sacks on season.

Tackles for loss:
OU: #10 with 40 (8/game)
Bama: #29 with 43 (7.17/game)
LSU: #10 with 48 (8/game)

I realize that LSU has an extra game on OU, but I see their DTs have 48 tackles to our 24, 11.5 sacks to our 5, and 4 sacks to our 1.5....

And they have played with 6 DTs this season?

Yea we have more sacks w/ LBs and the secondary.

Right....I included their top 3 DTs and 4 of ours....

Like I said, On the edges, we are as good as anyone up front..

Yeah, they have better numbers. our DEs are the ones that carry our DL. I'll admit, I was wrong on the DTs.

However, I think it just as good DL as any.

Yea we have more sacks w/ LBs and the secondary.

If you look at the stats I gave in the OP...those stats are without LBs or DBs....strictly DL (DTs and DEs)

Well historically, besides, Gerald McCoy who played a ton of snaps, our DTs have never been much statistically under stoops...And these guys have played pretty well depending on the day and the opponent..Casey Walker can be hard to deal with when he wants to..They are playing well.
