50s throwbacks once or twice a decade is fine. Keep the white socks and shoes, and maybe put "Oklahoma" on the front of the away jerseys again. Or don't. Otherwise, they don't need to be touched.

I see myself being unhappy if there is a change. I see myself being embarrassed if we have to hire someone to coordinate our uniforms.

By and large (save for a few minor name on the front/back tweaks), these uniforms have been the same through the 60s, the wildly successful 70s and 80s, the ugly probation years of the early 90s, John Blake, and now Stoops. The only time OU's unis were noticeably changed was in 1995, when Captain Kangaroo put stripes on the sleeves. And look how that turned out.

Look, if we want to try the white helmet thing once, whatever. But NO to any sort of Mickey Mouse, dog-and-pony show bull**** that will make us look like one of those Dallas Metroplex high schools, all under the uber-gay PRO COMBAT jackoffery.

It's funny when someone posts a poll and they are hoping to get support for a change in something and the Monster drags them through the streets and then puts their mouth on the curb and stomps the back of their head.....

No need for change when you have the history and tradition we have.

If the kids want a change just once, I'd say let em, so long as it isn't a stupid change. If they want to do funny colored shoes (Patrick O'Hara once kicked with green shoes), that's fine. If they want to do a throwback day, that's cool. If they want to go full-on Nike, change our colors and logo and be crazy... NO

See, I wasn't hoping for support. I happen to like the unis we have. However, I also liked the throwback Nike did for us sometime ago. Just wanted to see what others thought. You knida took a big jump from starting a poll to that person wanting change, didn't you?

That was mostly a '70s thing. They were banned in '82.

The half shirts lived on a little longer than that though.

As for uniforms, I wouldn't object to red pants on the road. That's about it.

I'm sure I'll get negged pretty hard for that one.

10/11/2011, 03:10 PM
Ugh, crimson pants would be terrible with the crimson helmet. If we had a white helmet it would look better to an extent, but then we'd just look like a sharper Nebraska or Wisconsin. The white pants are more than sufficient.

IMO, a little too much like Ohio State. We could use them once a year or so, but not more often. Our unis are part of the allsome image of OU.

And yes to the throwbacks. They were pimp.

do you think osu/oregon/maryland look like tards every week/year with a new uniform????

if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

John Kochtoston
10/13/2011, 05:31 AM
I'd like to see the all-white, no stripe pants back. Maybe with the interlocking OU on the hip. I think it's a cleaner look. I'm torn on a white road helmet. I'd have to see it to know for sure. I actually kind of liked the uni tops Drunkenburger rolled out with the stripes on the sleeves.

If we ever do throwbacks again, I'd like to see us go way back with a uni top with a giant "O" on it. Like Michigan did for the ND game this year.

That was me, and even I think we should pull out the throwbacks every once in awhile. Kids like new shiny things, and if we give them something like this they may get fired up more and want to play harder.

I just think the throwbacks are cool as hell, but I like old school uniforms (like Oregon State's throwback Pro Combat uniforms from last year). But they also harken back to perhaps the most dominant period ever seen in college football.

Speaking of Oregon State's throwbacks, the thing I loved about them was the stripes on the undershirt to mimic the longer-sleeved jerseys of the 60s (and before). If OU does the throwbacks again, I'd like to see them take that approach.

Those Oregon State throw-backs were the best I've seen in years. I wasn't a fan of the flat paint on the helmets, but they pulled it off.

The picture looks cool, but if I remember right, they didn't look nearly as good on game day.

Have we ever done red pants with the red jersey? I don't know how it would look with our colors, but I know I usually like it when darker colored teams do it.

I don't know, even though it seems like every team needs a matte black helmet these days, it still looks better than Texas Tech's helmets, which have as much sparkle and glitter as one of our twirler's batons.

Yeah, they didn't look as good on the field (jersey stripes were weird, and the pant fabric template screwed up those stripes).

All crimson would look awful, though.

I've actually come around on the matte helmets (probably because of Oregon State). I also agree about the sparkle thing. I can't remember which team it was, but I recently saw a white helmet with all that sparkle crap in it. Looked awful.

The only change I'd like to see is a switch from the Nike logo to the Under Armour logo. Mostly because I support the WWP and would love to have an OU WWP t-shirt.

Define uni change...

To me, if they opted to take the stripe off of the pants, it wouldn't be the end of the world. Now, if they wanted to introduce a crimson away pant, then yes...kill everything.

All crimson would look a lot like a combo Indiana used to use:

However, I like the crimson pants better on the road unis:

Most importantly, I would love to see these throwback make a regular appearance:
