ESPN News - TCU accepts invitation to join Big 12 for all sports, effective July 1, 2012

Looks like TCU will fit in where A&M was at on the schedule! Trip to Fort Worth in early November!

Doesn't look like it. TCU will take A&M's schedule, and OU will have to find another OOC opener. At this late a date, I'm thinking another East Popcorn State.

Not alot of options to replace TCU as OOC game:

1. Travel to a named team and get a home game in return later
2. Get a named team at home with a later return date
3. Pay some mid level team to come play us
4. Play a named team at Jerryworld

I approve this message. I ate there Sunday for lunch and it rocked. That's really what we should base future expansion on.....good food. Looking at you Memphis and Tulane.

How is TCU "another" Texas team? We still only have 4, and the other schools in the conference love the games in Texas for recruiting purposes.

I really would like to see this conference add Arkansas!!! It would be hard to do, but offer them more money than they are currently getting. Anyways, TCU will likely be really good as long as Patterson is there, but if he leaves it could turn into an Iowa State real quick.

Would it have to be a game away from Norman to replace TCU? A neutral site game against a halfway decent oppoenent may be ideal. Collect a decent paycheck, and don't have to find somebody to agree with a 2 for 1 deal that would normally come with a mid tier opponent.

I'm very happy with this. I think that they have the best program regionally that we could've likely gotten. This is huge for them. Recuiting just got a whole lot easier for TCU, and I love DFW (I used to live there). It's a great place to visit for away games.

If TCU is smart, they will make a deal with Jerry world to have their OU home games played there.....it could easily be a packed house....and double capacity.

First thing on the boards for TCU fans was for us to beat TX and even Galloway got started in the hate TX by TCU. They know they got scewed by TX when the SW conference came to the Big 8 so they have aligned themselves with OU. From all the comments I read they believe OU with David Boren is who pushed for TCU and UT finally had no choice. An ally right in the State of TX -- doesn't get any better than that!

I am glad they are in. More opportunities to have shorter less expensive trips to watch the Sooners.
Good replacement for the aggies. At least TCU is proving in recent years they can actually win a big game or two while a&m are a bunch of pretenders.

Although not a glamorous addition it is still a good fit. The only bad part is that the T in TCU statnds for tejas.

Anyway let's welcome them to the party with a good old fashioned butt whoopin

Texas is almost certainly the main reason and force behind TCU getting an invite and getting admission.

Vomit.

As for Texas not wanting TCU, hardly. The freshmen at both campuses have never been alive to see a TCU win versus Texas, and their parents have seen only one. And, it's unlikely they'll see one soon. TCU can't even beat SMU or Baylor.

It's a good pickup for Texas and DeLoss Dodds. We're following along because we have to, according to Boren and his followers, politically (OSU) and because of Boren's huge blind spot (SEC doesn't exist).

If TCU is smart, they will make a deal with Jerry world to have their OU home games played there.....it could easily be a packed house....and double capacity.

I don't see this happening for a few reasons:

1- TCU is undergoing a big (9-figure!) stadium renovation dealio. They want butts in their home stadium if they're spending that much.

2- College games in Jerryworld are scams to get people to buy Cowboys season tickets. You should have heard Aggie student angst when they heard that they were getting shoved into the party pass zone for the LSU bowl and their overall ticket allotment sucked. I seem to recall a few on here complaining that OU's ticket allotment for donors put many high upstairs, which about means that you're subjected to the big screen, not watching the actual game.

3- TCU really, really needs to up its home attendance not that it's in a big boy conference. Even without the stadium project, it needs to get people to come to more games. An OU game would be a good way to sell multiple tickets as like a 3-game pack or something.

Also, I welcome our purple amphibians to the BEAT-TEXAS Conference. No, not the "Texas Conference" or the "Bevo 10" or whatever aggie tries to say. We are the BEAT Texas Conference, because we BEAT TEXAS, which is something other conferences can't enjoy as much as we do. It's fun, and they only wish they could do it on an annual basis, but you can't because you're not part of the BEAT TEXAS CONFERENCE.

I wish the state of New Mexico didn't have such pathetic football teams. Geographically, that makes sense but the Lobos are just awful. Same goes for Louisiana. Outside of LSU, there is just no decent football there. If the Big East solidifies itself, the Big XII is running out of viable options.

And really, what are the Big 12's choices regionally? Minnesota? Iowa? Houston?

I'd say TCU is about the best we can do without a block buster deal with Notre Dame...and I'm not sure we'd want them these days.

Someone suggested that BYU could enter as a football-only school and Notre Dame enter as an everything-but-football school.

Intriguing thought...

Last I heard, Texas didn't want any more Texas schools, while the other schools did. They replace A&M so everyone else can keep that game in Texas for recruiting. Basically nothing changes from 2011 to 2012. Again, why is everyone freaking out? If we add SMU and Houston, then you can freak out.

If we can't poach a couple of top teams from the Big East, we might as well stay at 10 for a while so everyone gets a bigger cut and there's still the chance in a few years that the Pac-12 will reconsider.

Good for TCU. This is a financial windfall for them. Patterson has really lifted them up and now they'll be on an equal footing in a BCS conference when they were already recruiting well. I think their addition will hurt A&M's recruiting efforts in the DFW area more than anything else.
