another point of contention....

#1 isn't that the horns own fault? that they start a bunch of freshman....like everyone has said, top 5 classes every year and you have 18 true freshman starting?

#2 horns - 20 Sr/19 Jr total of 39 upper classmen OU - 15 Sr/27 Jr total of 42 upper classmen...(count might be 1 off...tired old eyes!)

obviously some of the important spots are critical QB for one...but we are just as "young" as they are...the next few yrs will be GRAND!!!

The whole "UT is very young" retort also excludes the fact that OU also starts a bunch of sophomores like Stills, Jefferson and Wort. Gabe Lynn and Aaron Colvin are also pretty young as well.

Another perspective: Stoops has always said that the best players play at OU, whether they're freshmen or seniors.

I think we all know that's not Mack's philosophy at UT. Muschamp was reportedly furious that there wasn't more accountability for playing time. Maybe that's why its such a shock to the system to see so many young players out there.

Guys, cut Mack Brown some slack, he is a coach fighting for his job.

He didn't replace his coordinators from last year because they were doing well (I realize Muschamp moved into a head coaching job but he did all he could to upset the ranks last year and might have been asked to leave if he hadn't done so on his own).

He and ESPN started the excuse machine early in anticipation of exactly what happened on the Cotton Bowl floor last Saturday, a sa*et massacre.

By trumpeting the whole young thing, Mack is lobbying to keep his cushy head coaching job arguing he needs a couple of seasons to develop the current batch of players.

They are young, but so what?

I'll give them the youth argument for QB, OL, and CB positions. But, like everyone else has said, why are they devoid of uppclassmen at these positions? Somebody ask Mack Brown. He might be involved. * fans are quick to blame everything on *gdgd*, but Mack is the recruiting master down there. This happened on his watch, and he is the one to blame.

Meanwhile, up here north of that red mud-infested tributary, we have 3 sophomore WRs (Stills, Reynolds, and Franks) who are better than any of your WR's by a long shot.

We have a sophomore fullback who is better at his position than anybody on UT's team.

Our 3 RBs consist of a walkon first year player, and two sophomores.

Remember Tony Jefferson? Sophomore. Tom Wort? Same. Corey Nelson? Again, soph. Gabe Lynn and Aaron Colvin as well.

Our defense is not "young", but it has some very important pieces who are young. We are playing young players when they are stellar. UT is playing them because they have no choice. Some of the young guys they are playing are never going to amount to anything.

They can sit back and dream about a future when all their youngsters grow up, but they'll still be playing against the guys listed above for a couple more years, plus, we'll work in more super-talented youngsters along the way. But I trust * will come up with a few more doozy excuses by then.
