I had to go look

SR - Texas - 11
SR - OU - 15

JR - Texas - 15
JR - OU - 20

We aren't that much older than they are. Texas has 59 underclassmen, we have 50.

I hope Landry comes back. They'll be singing the same tune next year.

Texas has 19 underclassmen on their 2 deep. OU has 18. Heck, we have a walk on starting.

Yeah, I counted Whaley in with the juniors though i forgot to subtract him out of the 85. sigh.

I had no idea. If only this fact had been mentioned once, twice, or a hundred times during the game....;)

Not to defend the losers, but Texas IS very young and inexperienced at QB, which really got them in a hole. There D was decent the first couple series, at lest in the red zone. Then they got worn down and hopeless due to the turnovers, etc.

Still, they were outclassed, outplayed and outcoached like all get-out yesterday.

Im not sure if they even watched game film or practiced last week. Their problem was about game preparation and coaching, not about depth and talent.

OU had an equally young team last year and won the big 12.

was it windy there yesterday? that was my first thought as to their losing.

having a young team only became a thought/lameass excuse when espn told me so.

I just got home from Dallas and watched the recording for the first time. The LHN plugs made me laugh!

Lol! Whatever you do " KEEP CALLING YOUR TV SERVICE PROVIDER " we wasted a lot of money on LHN and need your help getting it back!

Number 11 Texas?? Are you sure about that?

I dont know where the ESPN network was pulling thier numbers from?

It could have something to do with the fact that they spent the week before the game in Austin and everywhere they looked were sa*et players sucking their thumbs . . .

Can this be made into a sign for ESPN GameDay purposes?

Mack just ran out of time.

I will say that, beyond the whole "youth" argument, I haven't seen a lot of excuses coming from the Texas folks. Mack was complimentary and so were the players - pretty uniformly. That's nice but it was always fun to talk about their comments like "they're just not better than us", "we were into the wind in the 2nd half", "we just ran out of time", etc.

Texas needs a decent QB, several receivers, a ton of OL. I will condede they have some decent young defensive talent in their front 7. Their defensive secondary is another issue.

OU will be the better team in the Cotton Bowl again next year.

I brought that up yesterday. Their were so many excuses for Texas.

I am glad someone started this thread. I was wondering why they only talked about Texas being young. Not counting early departures for the NFL we will be returning most on both sides of the ball.

Did ESPN make a bad investment in Texas? Sure looks like it!

Isn't the real question whether your young players are talented and capable of significant improvement? The "returning starters" figure is overrated, IMHO. Sure, if you return Jefferson, Stills, Wort, and other younger players, that is great. But what if they are Willie Shankle and Jake Sills?

Texas has 50 underclassmen on the roster and OU has 59. Not much difference except ours are football players.

Texas has plenty of players. I think what has killed Texas is coaching. Starting a couple of years ago Mack started believing his press clippings and thought he was a rock star. He spent more of 2010 with ESPN talking about how great he is than taking care of his team. Add in the cancer that was Will Muschamp and the entire coaching staff was in disarray with no leadership other than Will threatening to fire the other coordinators, when he evidently had no authority to do so.

The talent they have is fine. It just hasn't been developed because the staff was too busy trying to promote themselves.

That's including walkons which you normally don't count (exception for whaley) - thus both teams are around 120 players not 85. OU also still has austin box on the roster so we only have 15.

I was just hoping we could hear one more time about how young Texas was and how much they were going to improve...Ugh.

Thanks for the numbers. I was led to believe Texas was younger than we were. I'd hate to be a UT fan, since they've all bough into the whole "we're young, just wait" philosophy. We were really young last year, and yet made it to, and won, a BCS game. Texas is a long, long way from that.

they made a bad investment in a one school network period.

If they were going it THIS BIG with a single university, Whorn was the one to do it with because of size, tv eyeballs, money etc. ...but in the end I agree...they will think they made mistake.
