FWIW, Artesia High has also sent three other guys to OU, including All-Big 8 DB (late 60's) Steve Barrett.

Good article.

Leach said he and Heupel were initially two unpopular figures among OU faithful: "Me for having the audacity to throw the ball, and Josh for being a quarterback who couldn't run."
I don't remember it that way at all. I'm not privy to the mail or phone calls he got but I don't recall anyone being upset at what was going on. We were all so desperate to stop being laughed at and win again that I don't think anyone cared how we won - running, passing, limping, rolling. We just wanted to get back to winning and were liking what we were seeing.

That was Mike Leach just being facetious.

Who was the speedy kid that played at Nebraska in the late 90's? He was out of Clovis I think.

They are using the term talent rather loosely is you ask many on this board.

Landry has really stepped up since the Sun Bowl.

We had Michael Thompson from Clovis, NM in the early 90's.

That's right. Newcombe was from Albuquerque.
