Watching Ken Burns' excellent 'Prohibition', I learned that 'Bevo' was the name of a 1/2% near beer sold during our national experiment with group idiocy.

Somehow it seemed fitting that Texas should have, as their emblem, a sour, weak beer that disappeared as soon as enforced group-think ceased to prevail.

it was a near beer, brewed by Anheuser-Busch.....and I agree, another great series by Ken Burns.
