Good to hear.

We have everything to lose. Texas is expected to lose. If there is one ounce of complacency this week, it could be damaging. Sounds like Stoops is all business.

JudInKC
10/3/2011, 09:12 PM
Could be a new offense or a bunch of wrinkles, but it could also be a ploy to make Texas think we will come out with something new.

Maybe it's more defensive wrinkles?

I would tend to believe the latter than the former because Bob has never changed his offense much during the season. He did change the defense last year when we played OSU.

Seems like every year we hear about all these trick plays and new wrinkles. A few years back it was some package that had Manny Johnson throwing a pass on a reverse and we never saw it. Not even when we needed a new wrinkle in 08 after Texas had seized the momentum. Instead, we fake a punt on 4th and a mile and don't get it.

I don't think we've been vanilla. I don't understand why some people think we (and other teams) hold back on their playbook, especially for this long. Has it ever been confirmed that coaches do this all the time? Especially with an offense that has plenty of experience under their belt like ours does.

Some pretty good things have come out of the Texas game though. We had never run that Smoke Draw with Q that we unleashed on them in 02, and as Bob said "it worked all day" Also just off the top of my head, the stand up DE spinner defense made its debut and the 3 TE offense too. So I'd say its not quite rare, but it isnt like we come out as a brand new team every year either.

That's what I assume as well - but it at least gave the horns something to worry about this week. We are getting a bit thin at RB, especially if Clay is not 100%, so might need a few snap from Williams.
