Who has the better running game?

Depends on how well Landry throws a wet football. I think a passing team can do well in wet weather depending on if the QB can throw a wet football or not. That sounds kinda silly, but Troy Aikman for one HOF QB did not like throwing a wet football.

Besides that bad weather can even out the disparity between teams, due to increased turnovers and such. In other words: there's no telling who foul weather might help.

...and I don't particularly buy the age-old wisdom that the better running team has a big advantage. I think with the potential for DB's to slip and fall, be more out of position than usual and so on, I think it can even favor a passing team - it just depends.

was a rainy day when we won 63-14

not 100% sure...but believe it was overcast and misty on 65-13 too.

Rain is a good omen in this era

Last real rain game I remember was Miami a couple of years ago.

Dont remember it helping us then.

But that was a couple of years ago.

Didn't Landry throw for 400 yards or so against Tulsa in the rain a couple years ago?

EDITED: Nope, it was 286 yards against Idaho State. His first start.

Jones hasn't shown any problems with a wet ball in the past. The question is, who handles the slick field better, the shorthorn WRs, or the OU DBs, and vice versa. It's going to be harder to get pressure on the QB, which helps Jones. Maybe we'll see just how good McCoy Jr. really is.

As good as Whaley is at finding a hole and getting upfield, he should have a good game if the line blocks well, since he doesn't dance around a lot, lowering the risk for a slip.

It was raining hard at Mizzou last year. It didn't help us at all.

Rain will always hurt your team more than theirs.

I wouldn't say it was raining hard. I didn't even have to ever put on my poncho. Hard rain is like the UT Chattanooga where you sit under the bleachers for a half hour thunderstorm delay.

In this game, rain seems to affect the referees more than the players.

For anyone going, please drive carefully if it turns out to be crazy rain. I was scared enough of driving around in Dallas before the game without the rain. Lanes upon lanes of traffic merging into each other with crazy Texas drivers (full of Aggie and whorn flags, yes) that just wherever they feel like, whenever they feel like it.

I don't know how many years going back this streak goes, but it is significant. The team that has had the most yards rushing is the team that has won the RRR. I expect both teams will do everything they can to take away the others' run game. Rain or not I think that is good for OU.

I was a Meteorology major my first two semesters at OU. Really. I soon realized I was never going to be able to make acceptable grades trying to learn calculus from my Iranian GA, no matter how good she looked in leather pants and boots, and switched to something different.

So I can tell you: it will not rain. This is based on the idea that when you really don't know, the most likely scenario is that the weather tomorrow will be like today. Works in L.A.

Meteorologist here. 100% correct that it's too far out to know exactly if it will rain and how hard. However, general flow pattern in the upper atmosphere most certainly favors it, so it wouldn't surprise me in the least. Will know more on Monday/Tuesday.

2003 RRS was most overcast than rainy. I remember some very cold rainy games in 2002..ISU and CU at home come to mind. Defense played great, and that's what we'll need if it rains in Dallas next weekend.

David Letterman used to say that in San Diego when he did the weather there.

Pretty sure the last time it didn't happen was the Parker/Williams shootout back in '97.

If it does actually rain, it will probably be like the kid's soccer game when a balloon flies off into the sky. All the kids will stop and stare at it.
"What's that stuff? Oooooooo!"

Dayum we need some rain.
