At what age should you say it is too young? My fiancee is 11 years younger than me, at times I feel I am robbing a cradle....but we are both well above 35 years old....so how do you decide????...oh and no pre-hs ages..I am only asking about two legals:) I am 11 years older than him, so at times I get nervous...what do you all think? THANKS :)

Are you just worried what anyone else thinks? Really, who gives a ****? As long as you two are compatible in all the ways that matter - values, beliefs, sex and money - and can have intelligent conversations and fun, that's all that really matters. And, you go, girl!

Is your concern that some people may talk? Social customs and norms have changed so much that age differences, women dating and marrying younger men, interracial couples, are becoming less and less of an issue. As I get older, I care less and less about "social norms." Who cares?

I see nothing wrong with that.

The cut off, in my mind, is 25. As I get older, the potential gap grows.

I have had one wife who was five years older than me and two others that were around 15 years younger than me. I don't think it matters.

I'm dating a girl 15 years younger than I am.

My daughters say as long as the girls I date aren't younger than they are then I'm fine. (They're 27, 24, and 23)

The woman should never ever be older. Why?

SicEmBaylor
9/21/2011, 01:24 PM
Why?
No logical reason other than the fact that it sort of freaks me out.

I met this adorable ginger at Baylor who was a sophomore when I was a fish. She was AdPi and ended up crushing* me twice. I liked her a lot, but I stood her up both times because the idea of dating someone older than me just freaked me out. She wasn't even a full year older. I didn't know my love life would end up being so ****ty, so I sort of wish I had gone. Oh well...missed opportunities are my thing.

*The sororities at Baylor have two "crush" events each year (one a semester). They're these big parties and each sorority member "crushes" a guy they want to attend the eevent with him. This is done by giving them a "crush t-shirt." Crush shirts are somewhat sought after. I took the shirts, but didn't go to the event. I just wanted the shirt even though AdPi is way the hell down the sorority ladder.

Hugh Hefner probably once swore he'd never marry a girl more than 50 years his junior but he didn't figure he'd want to walk the aisle at 80 . . .

That's what a "cougar" does. So yeah, I was wondering about the male equivalent.

I'm 26, my husband is 37. If people mistake one of you for the other's parent or grandparent, the age difference is too big. Other than that, who gives a crap?

Family law attorney here.

In my experience, which is purely anecdotal, but actually might somehow also be statistically valid, if the woman is a lot older, that's a problem. If the man is a lot older, game on.

When I was young I liked older gals now that I am old I like younger ones. It works out pretty well this way. Older women seem to love young guys and with the costs of things these days young women just about need an old guy.

I've also heard of (age/2) +7. Biblical? I didn't know that.

I'm 5 months younger than my wife of 22 years. Not that she's 22; we've been married that long.

btw, marrying a guy who's eleven years younger than you doesn't make you a cradle robber, it makes you a cougar. let's get the term straight. It also, statistically, means you'll have a 20% higher mortality rate than a woman married to a man her own age. Men who marry younger women, on the other hand, have a 10% lower mortality rate. So, good for me; bad for you.

I think cougar's are technically older women who troll for younger men at bars & clubs. I don't think they want to keep/marry them.
