View Full Version : Have we talked about the rig that Continental burned down last night?

Those stupid motherfuggers at CLR burned Patterson 179 (I'm pretty sure that was the rig) to the ground due to their drilling department's incompetence. They are lucky that nobody was injured.

So, clr is a competitor of yours I'm assuming?

Not at all. Their drilling department for the Cana Field (Canadian, Blaine, Dewey and Caddo counties) just flat out sucks.

How do you really feel? :)

Curious how you know they "suck"?

It was some contractor not Continental...

My goodness Rusty, you're as wrong as two boys making out. Continental is the operator of that well. They have a company man out there that is in charge. He either was not competent enough to know that they were taking a kick or he was asleep at the wheel. Patterson UTI was the rig contractor and the rig was 179. Their rig driller and tool pusher should have known what to do but during a kick the company man is in charge as he's ultimately responsible.

There is a reason the company man gets paid $1,500/day...

I'm well aware of that, I believe you may have quoted the wrong guy.

We may well find out it was human error, but for now the people that know are not talking. (Not to me at least)

apparently they burned one down in south dakota(?) earlier this month?

Sure did.

Edit: Not that it matters, but I think it was more like 2 months ago.

One of my buds was on the rig and put a bunch of pics on fb... he wont say why it burned though.

I've been told that they were not filling the hole while tripping out so the hydrostatic pressure wasn't there to keep the gas down
