View Full Version : The Warchant website is filled with hatred tonight...calling Sooners dirty players

Seems they think this was supposed to be a flag football game tonight. None of them mentioned the horse-collar on Tom Wort after the INT or the elbow shiver on Kenny Stills. What a bunch of whiners!

agreed. it's football! they never led with their head, even on the sandwich hit that knocked the kid out. That was clean! The ref didn't throw the flag until he saw the kid lying motionless on the ground.

However, I hope for all of their full recoveries.

Good! That means we won. Ask them about that elbow to Kenny Stills' face.

typical....really wouldn't expect anything less from them. with the exception of a few, most FSU fans think their team is football royalty...of which they are not

sour grapes. we knocked out their two best players, and went in their house, punched them in the mouth and stole their dinner

Im over the Noles now. Bring on Mizery

I read through the thread already. Sure there is a handful of sour grapes in there but there are a few FSU fans who are attempting to be the voice of reason. Really, no reason to worry about what they are saying over there. They played a good game but right after a tough loss isn't the best time to try to convince ppl that they weren't somehow cheated out of it. Best to just give them their space for now.

Not to mention their QB was injured on a play in which HE WAS RUNNING THE BALL. It's not like he was blind-sided a la Sam Bradford. That's the chance you take when you have a running quarterback.

I didn't think the hit on their receiver was dirty at all. Nor did I think it was a penalty. The flag came only because the kid was knocked out. Just because someone is hurt doesn't mean there should be a flag. Glad he was not seriously hurt though.

Just got back from the game. Don't ever let the internet fans form your opinion. That was a friendly, fun, respectful fan base. They went out of their way to be gracious hosts. One of the best college football environments I've ever been in, if not the best. Tons of class, great stadium, great traditions, great fans.

I wouldn't say they were great fans. People last night and before the game were pretty bad. And the guy in the section next to the OU band who hand his middle finger up 90% of the game and on his way out. I will say there were a lot after who made sure to go out of their way and say good game. It's much easier to say good game when you've just lost. What else they going to do talk ****? There were some nice ones, but more bad ones. Not tech or missouri last year bad.

It was unfortunate that Shaw was knocked out by that sandwich hit, but it was legal. He was falling down and Harris and Wort were just trying to make a tackle, and neither of them led with their helmets. The ref only threw the flag when he saw that Shaw was injured. I'm glad he's okay, though. That was scary. Just a bad accident.

I would prefer our fans let them fight this out amongst them selves.

After all, we've been here before...act like it.

On the broadcast Herbstreit immediately said of that hit, "that's not a penalty." Then Musberger took the party line and now ESPN is describing it every where as a "vicious" hit. I didn't even think the hit was that vicious. What were they supposed to do in that situation? Escort the guy into the endzone and serve him dinner? How else could they make a tackle? The guy was falling backwards, they weren't aiming high.

I know I'm preaching to the choir here but the description of that hit is bugging me.

SoonerStud615
9/18/2011, 01:11 AM
It was a vicious hit in the sense that it sent him to the hospital. Not a vicious hit in the sense of intent, or aiming high. Slow-mo replay shows to shots to the shoulders, with the head bouncing in between. Vicious, but legal.

Sharks are vicious by nature...

It's over and done with. Congrats Sooners on a great road win and let's look ahead to next Saturday night.

P.S. Have I ever mentioned that I can't stand those guys (Mizzou)?

Hit or not OUr players have class. They showed respect for the down player tonight. FSU fans clearly forget about the hit our guy took in Norman last season and their player dancing around about the play. They blow cats!

Here is the play to refresh their memories. Does not show the whole end of the play but FSU players were slapping each other on the back for this one. Not one of them took a knee.

i was only able to see about 1/2 the game... and while the hitting was brutal on both parts, fsu has always been (borderline) dirty. we may not be "dirty" on a week-to-week basis, but you've got to protect yourself. if they're doing it, we should do it - at least until the refs call it. i don't know if it's something fsu players "learn" from day 1 on campus, but it seems to be the norm for them.

The Sooners' record is 6-1 verses FSU. Sounds like FSU isn't tough enough to play with the big boys.

That hit is in this video (http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=espn:6987453)and it's clear to me they used their shoulders on the hit and it was a vicious, but clean, hit. It's at 52-61 seconds into the clip.

I read WarChant's thread then I went over to OrangePower and read their thread. The FSU board was mostly guys saying it was a personal foul, but not intentional and dirty. One or two guys overreacted and said Harris should never play a snap of football again. At OP, they all thought those cheatin' gooners were thugs and that Stoops had a bulls eye on the FSU WRs and QBs.

After the referee/onside kick scandal against Oregon in 2006 a handful of idiot Sooner fans whined their way to giving our fanbase a bad name here in Oregon. After that I vowed to not let a handful of idiot message board posters define any one fan base.

Unless you are at an alumni gathering of 100 or more people, you can't get a real sense of a fan base. I don't think a message board is ever a good way to gauge the pulse of any group.

The Oregon onside kick was a deliberate bastardization of the game by the review booth. They threw the game IMO. And that's all I will say about that.

No one agrees more than me. However, the death threats to the replay official by a few "Sooner fans" gave locals a chance to stereotype our whole fan base...inaccurately.

Congratulations Sooners.

Please don't let the few comments of a kid behind a keyboard sway your thoughts of an entire fan base. Even the ignorant one that held his middle finger up to your band, I'm sure there were many Noles that were embarrassed. We all have our few that "just don't get it".

You guys showed why you are Number One. you came in and took care of business. Hopefully as last year, we will grow from it and continue to improve. I didn't make it to the game, but I assure you if I did I would have offered a cold one to any Sooner walking by my tailgate. Again, great game and good luck the rest of the season.

No, I still think they do. Both of them.

Our DB's mis-playing the ball was responsable for their only TD, the back-up QB threw it up for grabs on 3rd and 28!

Give the kid some credit. He made more than one good throw after he came in. The kid is a baller, even if he looks like a toothpick.

Thanks, BocaDog. I think most, if not all, of us are smart enough to realize that every fan base has its idiots (including OU's) and that the rantings by a few on a message board don't represent the entire fan base.

It was a great game. We're all glad Shaw is ok, and hope he and Manuel get back in the game quickly for the Noles. Looking forward to seeing you guys have a great season.
