Just curious what opinions we have about the situation on if he will or will not play?

My gut feeling will be that he plays. He may take a few plays off though.

I heard he did that on a regular basis. :)

I hope not we honestly don't need him. We can win w/o T-Lew.

As of Tuesday he was still in a boot fools.

I want him to play because he's the best player on defense, but I don't want him to get hurt. So….I think he'll sit. No use risking his entire season for one game. We still have Texas, A&M, and OSU to play.

Leave him on the sidelines and let him build up the frustration of not playing, then release him onto the field against *.

Not disagreeing but if he's not 100% he shouldn't play at all.

Crazy talk, Travis is a machine....Bob is having some spare legs made and he will be programmed with the heatseekers ready by game time.

pappy
9/11/2011, 12:23 AM
I think they should rest him until Ball State so he gets back in the flow of a game so he will be completely ready to go vs *. I think we'll beat FSU and Mizzou without him, no need to rush him back.

From what I remember reading the decision was made very soon after he was injured. I doubt anything has changed that. So I don't think he'll play. Too bad for him; I'm sure he's eager.

Soonerfan88
9/11/2011, 12:32 AM
If it's up to Travis, he's playing. However, I'm sure the medical staff will make a thorough examination and Bob will follow their advice. My guess is the doctor's will say no.

I'm thinking a 100% Corey Nelson is a better strategy than a 65% T Lewis. Prolly won't get a medical release anyway.

He won't play. This is Landry's game. We are going to see if he can play outside of Norman. This game will tell us a lot

I am not as concerned about how the D will play in this game as I am how the O does. This game will be won on the match-up between our O and their D. The thing is that Coach Stoops knows the FSU D schemes and how to beat them. Also, what beat FSU last year wasn't as much their inexperience in their new scheme, but OUr pace.

meoveryouxinfinity

I seriously doubt it. If he plays that means he's practicing Wednesday. If he doesn't practice he doesn't play.

To a large extent I agree with what you wrote, with the following exceptions:

1. We need to fix the busts in coverage by our secondary. If we let one of there receivers run wide open as we did against Tulsa at least three times, we will be scored on. Irredardless of how bad EJect plays...

2. I agree that our pace on O is always good for a handfull of free plays, but this was compounded by there lack of scheem understanding last year...and the worst performance by a VHT cornerback I have ever seen, ever.

...ever....EVER!

Even if OU were to lose to FSU it doesn't really hurt them... let me explain. They would drop probably around 8 or 9 and if they win out they would likely end back up at # 1 or #2. I'm not saying that they will lose, but even if they do it's not as massive of a deal as people think.

So, with that said, why rush T-Lew back and mess him up worse? Instead, let him come back slowly, so he's healthy because we might need him to finish the season. Plus, there's a large chance even if he pushed himself to play he would only be at 60%. If they can win the FSU game without him then things will only get better when he comes back. This team needs to weather the storm without him and guys need to step up.

I suggest we ask one the realignment gurus who seem to have "sources" in the program that are constantly giving "insider" information. Those guys know! If they found out that OU is headed to the PAC they can find out if Travis playing surely!! :victorious:

IMO he's not playing (sorry no source to quote, just my gut)

My thought is, now that there is a slight hint of him having a chance of playing, that we will not announce until gametime to officially announce that he is or isn't playing, which will make FSU asccount for him one way or another. Personally, I am more comfortable with Nelson at 100% than Lewis below that, as another poster said earlier.

If Tlew does play, doesnt that move Tjeff back to the safety position that Javon was at in game 1?

BoulderSooner79
9/11/2011, 11:01 PM
That tweet could be a fake to throw a curve to the FSU coaches. But the FSU OC might expect that, so the tweet is actually a double fake and it really is true. But they might expect that too...

i don't think so. jefferson hasn't played the deep safety at all in his career at OU. he's more of a safety playing in a linebacker spot because of how much we see the pass, so it's almost like we are running a 4-2-5

Our D should be up for this game. I am little scared of the deep ball, they love going long. Hopefully they don't catch our secondary sleeping.

Why do people keep saying that? The last four games we played last year were in Waco, Stillwater, Dallas and Glendale...and Landry played exceptional.

I wonder what the playcalling will be like early in the game. From what some FSU fans are saying, they are really concerned about their LBs, especially in coverage. Could we see a lot of crossing patterns, tunnel screens, and involvement from the TEs/FB? Also, I really believe that the FSU DBs are so ready to prove themselves that they start to press.
