I thought I'd put them together.

Gained a 1st place vote in Coach's poll, lost 4 in the AP.

Looks like lsu's lame "we should be #1" campaign didn't do much good.

GOOOOOO BAYLOR! #20 in the AP poll! Big 12! Big 12!

Interesting to note that the writers like Boise St., South Florida and Baylor more than the coaches. It seems they may be more amenable to change than the average college football coach (or his PR guy who actually votes)

This poll is better than the Coaches. Baylor should be top 20ish.

My guess is that more media members were watching the Thursday game than coaches. Most of them had games to prepare for, while media members were doing their own prep work for poll busting and column writing etc etc. by watching the game.

This just shows you why the Coaches Poll needs to be taken away. TCU loses to Baylor. TCU is 0-1, Baylor is 1-0. Yet TCU is ranking #25 and Baylor is unranked in that poll. Anybody that watched the game saw that Baylor was clearly the better team. Yes they nearly let TCU come back and win, but they didn't. How can you rank a team higher than a team they just lost to based entirely on preseason rankings? Ridiculous. Coaches don't watch all of the games and have no idea how to rank teams. I'm not a fan of the AP, but at least they watch the games and keep up with everything. That is just dumb.

The writers definitely watch more games and put more thought in their votes. I thought Boise looked better than FSU too, although hard to judge given the apples-oranges competition. The AP also dropped USC and Auburn from the list despite (very ugly) victories. The coaches just checklist the previous poll keeping the winners in order for the most part and just dropping the losers.

EDIT: not sure why they didn't drop TCU completely and elevate Baylor unless Baylor was just too low on the previous week. Or they forgot about Thursday.

Baylor played a beautiful game. How as that, SicEm?

Little surprised that Notre Dame fell so far. I would have thought they would have gotten credit for losing to an undefeated team and atleast remained ranked in the top 25.

Apparently, Oregon still gets a pass, one loss doesn't count against them. Now two losses might get them voted out of the Top 25 . . .

how the hell is baylor not ranked in the coaches poll, but TCU is still 25?

Because it's an opinion poll, as they both are. What the groups form their opinions from, or about, is an altogether different matter.

TCU #25 in coaches poll and no Baylor = No Credibility
