Former OU and Tampa Bay Buccaneers standout Lee Roy Selmon has suffered a stroke, according to to Tampa Bay's 10News

The Tampa Bay television station reported that Selmon's nephew Zac said he and his father Dewey Selmon are traveling to Tampa, because Lee Roy, 56, suffered a stroke.

A family member in Norman confirmed to The Oklahoman that Selmon has suffered a stroke but did not provide any information on his condition.

Selmon, a Eufaula native, was the first player selected in the 1976 NFL draft and went on to become an NFL Hall of Famer and six-time Pro Bowler.

After his career in professional football, Selmon became athletic director for the University of South Florida.

Positive thoughts for it being a small stroke, with no lingering effects. I love the Selmons.

It was reported in the Tampa area when he stepped down as the USF Athletic Director that he was having health problems but never heard what they were.

Prayers go out to the Sooner great and his family.

RT @StevePeresman (http://twitter.com/StevePeresman): RT @noahpransky (http://twitter.com/noahpransky): Dewey Selmon, brother of Lee Roy Selmon, says brother is NOT dead; "serious condition & making progress"

DISGUSTING that the original word came from the damn resturant!!!!

Not goodRT @MyFoxTampaBay (http://twitter.com/MyFoxTampaBay): Selmon's restaurant PR staff says they sent out press release prematurely.
