NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma Head Coach Bob Stoops announced this morning that linebacker Tom Wort will wear No. 12 against Tulsa on Saturday to honor the late Austin Box.

Box, also a linebacker, wore No. 12 for the Sooners. He passed away last summer, prior to his senior season.

Stoops has said that No. 12 will rotate among defensive players during the season. Earlier this week, he explained that quarterback Landry Jones, who wears No. 12 on offense, and linebacker Travis Lewis will play a significant role in the selection process.

Wort, a sophomore, normally wears No. 21. He is starting in the same position that Box played for the Sooners, middle linebacker.

OU and Tulsa kick off at 7 p.m., Saturday in Norman. FX is televising the game.

I fully expect Wort to maybe have the game of his career thus far. He said in the All-Access that he plays with his heart and Box has been heavy on his heart since he passed.

Did anyone hear Stoops talking about Wort (I think it was his last press conference, although I may be wrong). To paraphrase; he said that Wort was a completely different play this year. He was a vocal leader with much more confidence, and that he fully understood the schemes and system this year. I can't wait to watch him play!

And, I'm sure Austin will be smiling down on Owen Field tomorrow.

Want to get rid of one? Take a Qtip and keep soaking the lil bastidge in alcohol (or gasoline) and then light it. Hurts quite a bit but the thing is utterly and completely gone when you're done. All you've got left is a burned out flesh wound.
