I am new to the area and I need a good sports bar to watch the OU game at. NOT the Texas game.

Ideas?

The OU Club of Austin (http://www.ouclubofaustin.com/) has a watch party up in Round Rock, the details are on their site. I usually watch the games at home, never ventured out looking for a watch party. Not sure how many places would have it opposite the Whorn game but then if Time Warner doesn't pick up LHN most of the bars will have to show something since FiOS isn't available in the City of Austin.

Good luck.
Typical Horn diplomacy....that is why they are loved so much these days....they are on a rapid trip to independence...

Because there are no good bars in Austin for Sooners? Mkay. Go back to your state.

It's called DKR. We seat over 100K.

We haven't failed to sell out the stadium since last century but don't let reality get in your way. We have 80K+ in season ticket holders.

And unlike you guys, we have a real stadium.

correction....you have over 100K chairs. There will be plenty of "empties" this year following up a 5-7

Yeah, that's why we lead the country in athletic revenue by far.

It is too bad that your stadium is named after an Oklahoman who played quarterback for the Sooners.

Drinks are free in Austin if you wear heels. You will be welcomed with open arms.

Why are you on this board? Herr Scholz . . . Please go bask in visions of a Longhorn victory over Rice . . .:D

Real stadiums don't have fake grass herr. That is like soooo 1975.

Herr, I live with you here in Austin. I've been to quite a few UT games and man have I been underwhelmed. The tickets are sold out sure, but thousands are available for nearly free, the stadium is half full until midway through the first and half full again midway through the 4th. The only response UT has this year is 'yeah well we have 11ty billion from our tv contract and we rich'.
Nobody really cares. The media cares because they're getting paid. Football fans care about winning. For the love of Pete, respond with something that says UT has a good football team and we can have a meaningful conversation.
I expect 1 of two responses from you
1 - something about why money is really important
2 - something about head to head record since 19 aught 7 or something about OU losing BCS games (that UT couldn't get to)

Actually there is a pretty good sports bar right on 6th Street with lots of good TVs. If you call ahead you can prolly make sure they can have at least one TV dedicated to the Sooners. I'm sorry I don't remember the name, I want to say it was Irish-sounding, but it's decked out in lots of pennants and has whorn gear all over the walls, even a dead cow-head. They had bucket beer and good hotwings... The waitresses were pretty cool, cause we gave each other a bunch of grief. We watched the OU/Texas game there last year. As it became apparent the Whorns were going to lose the other patrons got a little mouthy, but not anyhting you haven't heard before. I'm 6'5 260 and was with some other buddies that were kinda big, so they prety much took the loss and let us be. I love Austin restaurants, so many paces with good food.

And unlike you guys, we have a real stadium.

Shouldn't "real stadiums" have a "real team" to complement them? Losing to Iowa St. and Baylor at home? Really?

Went once to the OU club of Austin a couple of years ago and it was fun, but I'm like bluedogok and enjoy having friends (mostly fellow Sooner fans and longhorn neighbors) over to watch OU at home. Can't beat the cold beer and groceries at the house.

We've gone to 6th street before (Buffalo Wild Wings?) and any Waterloo Ice House over the years and had fun, especially for the OU / Texas game. I've even had fun at the UT tailgates with some longhorn friends. Most folks are courteous and will jest in fun if you do so in kind, but of course be prepared for those who may not.

Where ever you go, don't ask for any Heinz 57 sauce.

Texas likes to boast about how big it thinks its schlong is, but what does that matter if it can't ever get it up? Losing 5 games at home in the same season? Really?

Herr has completely quit talking about winning. Now it's about revenue and stadiums.

I give it to you Herr ** is absolutely #1 in $$ in the Big 12. I didn't know they gave an award for that. Congrats, slap on the back, way to go.

In the category of stadiums ? Yup yours is right there. I like it too, but fake grass probably drops you to two but it's OK because you didn't lose. There is no award for stadiums.

Can we just get back to wins and loses and Oh yeah, CHAMPIONSHIPS.

The cry of the losers: We have more money. We have a better stadium.

Every Bar in Austin with a brain will have the OU game on. Just like most of the bars in Norman would have the ** game on. Oh wait, its not available.

I've watched as many games in DKR stadium, unfortunately. as I have at OU and I would a whole lot rather watch a game at OU. You are closer to the action, more genuine spine tingling atmosphere, real down to earth folks to visit with, etc, the list is too long to mention.

Stub hub should be a good gauge at interest in the games. 1,306 tickets available for the Texas game starting at $35.

http://www.stubhub.com/texas-rice/?gcid=C12289x486&keyword=17627279&creative=6065401115&isGen3=1

and for the OU game, 343 tickets available starting at $50.

methinks that stadium in Austin is a bit too big....

Just given the fact that OU is on tv and UT isn't, the price of a UT ticket should be much, much more.

Watch out Bermuda those are pretty close to facts. Herr doesn't like those much. It causes him to go into spin control.
