Probably let him go early to give him more chance with another team. Signing McNabb gave him no chance outside of the practice squad.

That DUI was immaterial since his chances with the Vikes was already zero. It could hurt him getting a look from other teams - most have plenty of headaches with star players already.

Screwed up before his pro career could take off. How many others have done it to themselves... Maurice Clarett anyone? Although that is a much bigger extreme.
