Now what are we supposed to say at the end of that song next Saturday? That lecture on the stadium scoreboard and through the media from last season is like a distant memory to me.

If I gave red spek, and I don't, this would be a grand opportunity to do so.

Since this has never been discussed ;) I will give my two cents. I would prefer that people say "brave" as the song was originally written. My reasoning is that the term brave, in my opinion, refers to those brave enough to stand, fight and provide the freedoms that we have today. While Sooners certainly fall into that category it is a small slight to the non-Sooners who were brave enough to provide the opportunity for us to have this topic for discussion.

I am not going to lose any sleep either way, but that is how I see it.

edit: I had seen complaints about the smileys but this is the first time I have used one. I am now in line with those who don't like the smileys.

Why can't we just stand there with our hands or hats on our hearts and not say a word? I'm guessing most of us sing like **** anyway.

As a veteran I'm personally offended by anyone not singing SOONERS!

Well, did you enjoy that little lecture tonight by the PA announcer telling us its 'the home of the BRAVE' just before the National Anthem?

I shouted 'the home of the SOONERS!!!' loud and proud!

It could be worse. We could be rewriting the Battle Hymn of the Republic's ending with "the south will rise again." Is "Sooners" really so bad to shout?

It's not like this is the only fan base in the country that changes the last word. I prefer "brave" if I'm going to say anything at all, but everyone else can say what they want.

Now, if the next generation of OU fans thinks the last word of the National Anthem actually is "Sooners", then we might have a problem.

Ole Miss fans are some of the biggest idiots in the country, though. Few fan bases compare to them.
